An Innovative Exploration Of Home Culture And Creative Products Design Based On The Miao Cross Stitch Pattern In Guizhou

Guizhou is a multi-ethnic province with 39%of the province’s population made up of ethnic minorities,of which the Miao population is the largest in the province,accounting for about 12.2%of the province’s population.There are many excellent intangible cultural heritages in the Miao region,such as the Miao batik in Danzhai and Huangping counties,the Miao silver craft in Gaopo and Leishan counties,the Miao brocade in Majiang and Leishan counties,the Miao pile-flower embroidery in Kaili,and the Miao paper-cutting in Shiping county,etc.Among them,Miao embroidery accounts for more intangible cultural heritages in the folk handicraft category in Guizhou.The Miao cross stitch embroidery is one of them.Miao embroidery is a decorative and practical art created by the hard work and wisdom of the Miao people,and is known as a "wordless history book".The Miao embroidery of Guizhou is characterised by its exquisite techniques,bright colours,rigorous composition,symbolic and geometric patterns,and strong regional characteristics and ethnicity,and is of high research value.With the rapid development of the times,the current situation of the Miao people in Guizhou has changed,and their habits have also changed,from a slow-paced lifestyle and closed living environment to a fast-paced lifestyle and more open living environment.This has made it difficult to pass on the art of Miao embroidery in Guizhou.In order to pass on and develop this ’wordless history’,I believe that it is not enough to study the techniques,patterns and cultural connotations of Guizhou Miao embroidery,but rather to consider how to integrate the beauty and culture behind this art into the modern life of the contemporary public.This requires building a bridge between traditional skills and modern life,and in this study,this bridge is the home cultural and creative products.Compared to other cultural and creative products,home cultural and creative products are widely used by the public,and every household cannot do without them.The combination of functional and decorative cultural products will meet the contemporary public’s desire for aesthetic living.This form of artwork will enable the cultural treasure of the Miao people in Guizhou to be revitalised and passed on in a living form,and thus be ’preserved alive’ for better development.The first chapter of this paper examines the production process,pattern characteristics and the cultural connotations behind the patterns of Guizhou’s Miao cross stitch embroidery,providing a theoretical basis for the study of the design practice of Guizhou’s Miao cross stitch embroidery home culture and creativity.Chapter two will investigate and study the development status of cultural creative products,ethnic cultural creative products and Miao cultural creative products in Guizhou,so as to provide effective support for the subsequent design practice.Chapter three analyses the process and results of field research and market research,and finally makes a feasibility analysis.Chapter four analyses the design strategy of Miao cross stitch embroidery household cultural and creative products,shows the process of pattern extraction and redesign,and finally presents the results of the design practice.In summary,the design of cultural and creative products combined with regional ethnic culture should take the actual needs of the contemporary public as a starting point,and focus on the development of functional,practical,aesthetic,interactive and interesting aspects of the products.The exquisite and clever aesthetic features of Guizhou Miao embroidery are rich in Miao culture and contain many design symbols and elements.It is important to use the unique and innovative design concept of Miao cross stitch embroidery as an entry point to establish a connection with the consumer market through the sale of goods,so as to effectively serve the diverse aesthetic needs of the contemporary public,and to enable the decorative and practical aspects of Miao cross stitch embroidery to be passed on and developed in a way that better suits contemporary aesthetic needs.Through the presentation of the Miao flower embroidery patterns,the Guizhou Miao home creation products reflect the aesthetics,unique aesthetics and history and culture of the Miao people behind the patterns,and when consumers come into contact with and use these products,they can implicitly feel the unique culture of the Miao people.This is the only way to ensure that such a brilliant folk art will continue to leave a trail of footprints in time,and not disappear into history with the changing of the times.
