| With the continuous deepening of the concept of green and sustainable development, the importance of natural gas as the world’s cleanest fossil energy in the energy market is also becoming increasingly prominent, and it is expected to surpass coal as the world’s second largest energy source. However, traditional pipeline natural gas trade is limited to fixed areas and cannot move towards globalization. It was not until the emergence of liquefied natural gas(LNG)that it broke through the transportation limitations of natural gas and changed the traditional natural gas trade situation.Based on this development background, this article explores the impact of LNG trade on world trade in natural gas from two aspects: total trade volume and trade pattern.Firstly, this article elaborates on the reasons and operating principles of natural gas trade based on factor endowment theory, comparative advantage theory, and mutual demand theory. Then, combined with literature review and quantitative analysis research methods,a relationship model between LNG trade volume and the total world trade volume of natural gas is established to analyze the impact of LNG trade on promoting the growth of natural gas trade. The model analysis results show that the growth of LNG trade volume has indeed driven the growth of natural gas trade volume and has a significant impact. This article also elaborates on the impact of LNG trade on the natural gas trade pattern through the analysis of changes in net export volume and chart analysis. The analysis results show that LNG trade not only expands the trade scope of natural gas trade, promotes the globalization of natural gas trade, but also transforms the trade role of some countries in natural gas trade and changes the traditional trade flow of natural gas trade. The above research results indicate that LNG trade has a profound impact on natural gas trade, and LNG has become the main source of natural gas import countries.Among them,China became the country with the most LNG imports in the world in 2021.The healthy development of LNG trade is related to China’s energy security. Therefore, this article also analyzes the current development status, problems encountered, and response strategies of China’s LNG trade at the end of the study. |
