| China became Mongolia’s largest investor in 1998 and Mongolia’s largest trading partner the following year.So far,China and Mongolia have maintained close bilateral trade relations.Mongolia is rich in mineral resources,among which coal resources are related to Mongolia’s trade and economic security,and the trade of coal resources between China and Mongolia accounts for a large proportion of bilateral trade.Mongolia is rich in coal resources,and China has advanced exploration and development technology,high-quality professionals and abundant capital,which are favorable conditions for China to carry out coal trade with Mongolia.All along,the coal trade between the two countries has been developing well.However,with the change of the international situation and the weak development of the global economy,there are uncertain factors in the international coal market environment.Under the new situation,China-Mongolia coal trade is facing new challenges and new development opportunities.At the same time,there are still many practical difficulties in Mongolia that restrict the development of coal trade between the two countries.This paper states that Mongolian coal is of great benefit to China’s steel industry,and is relatively less affected by price fluctuations,so the development prospect of SinoMongolian coal trade is broad.On the basis of factor endowment theory,comparative advantage theory and international production compromise theory,combined with a large number of literature research results and data,this paper analyzes the present situation and characteristics of China-Mongolia coal trade,and points out that there are some problems in China-Mongolia coal trade,such as relatively small overall scale,single trade variety,weak transportation capacity,low level of supporting services at transit ports,backward development facilities and technology,etc.,and analyzes the causes of these problems from the perspective of China and Mongolia.In view of this,this paper puts forward some targeted countermeasures,such as enhancing the overall scale of ChinaMongolia coal trade,increasing the varieties of China-Mongolia coal trade,enhancing the transportation capacity of China-Mongolia coal trade,improving the supporting service level of China-Mongolia coal trade transit ports,and improving the coal development facilities and technical level of Mongolia,so as to promote the development of trade exchanges between the two countries. |
