| Copper,one of the earliest metals used by humans,has a wide range of applications in construction,electronics and transportation.With the deepening of industrialization,the rapid development of the power and construction sectors,the demand for copper products soared.As the world’s largest copper consumer,China needs to import a large amount of copper products due to the imbalance between supply and demand,and the import dependence is high.Today,with the integration into the global copper product trade network,it is of great significance to understand the import trade pattern,analyze the trade efficiency and influencing factors between China and major trading countries,and put forward reasonable measures for the continuous protection of copper resource supply in the future.Copper ores,refined copper and scrap copper in the copper industry chain are selected as representative copper products in this thesis.Combined with social network analysis method and stochastic frontier gravity model,the thesis analyze import trade efficiency of copper products in China and its influencing factors.After sorting out the research results on copper products,the trade data of China and major copper products trading countries were collected and sorted through the UN Comtrade,and the development status of China’s import trade of copper products was analyzed.On the one hand,the thesis describes the current import trade situation of copper products in China from the perspective of trade scale and market structure.On the other hand,a visual chart.Network density and centrality indicators are used to analyze the characteristics of the trade network between China and the main trading countries of copper products.Then,on the basis of understanding the current situation of China’s copper products trade,analyzing China’s copper products import trade efficiency and its influencing factors.The thesis selects 10 major trading countries of China’s copper ore,refined copper and copper scrap,covering a total of 15 years of data from 2007 to 2021.Frontier4.1 software is used to construct stochastic frontier gravity model and trade inefficiency model by using stochastic frontier analysis method,so as to learn the specific situation.Based on the above research,the thesis draws the following conclusions:(1)In addition to the negative influence of economic scale of trading country on copper ore’s import volume,economic scale and population capacity both promote the import trade of copper products in China,while geographical distance hinders the development of trade to a certain extent.(2)Both economic environment factors and central factors have a certain impact on China’s copper import trade.For copper ore,trade freedom,financial freedom,degree centrality,closeness centrality and betweenness centrality can reduce the influence of trade resistance.For refined copper,most of the economic environment factors and centrality factors are significantly negative,but the out-degree centrality has a negative impact on trade efficiency.For scrap copper,except the trade freedom is not significant,other economic environmental factors and centrality factors can reduce trade resistance to a certain extent.(3)In terms of trade efficiency,in copper ore trade,China has a large space for trade expansion with Mexico,Australia and other countries.In the refined copper trade,Australia,Peru and the Philippines do not have high trade efficiency values,so China can further strengthen ties with them.In scrap copper trade,China and the Netherlands,Spain and France have a great trade potential.Finally,based on the above conclusions,the thesis also puts forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions. |
