| Qiu Ying,a painter in the Ming Dynasty, drew on the basic composition of "Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival" by Zhang Zeduan in the Song Dynasty, and painted the life scenes he had observed for a long time in the long scroll. The scenes in the painting have the characteristics of time and region, and vividly show the social scene of Suzhou."Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival" by Qiu Ying is rich in content and exquisite in techniques, which is of high academic value in many fields such as painting art and figures. However, this paper focuses on the study of this painting from the aspect of textile and clothing.Through observation,it can be found that there are rich textile and clothing images in Qiu Ying’s "Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival".These images mainly include shops selling textiles, dyeing workshops, and costumes of different characters.Further observation found that the textiles sold by the shops include cotton fabrics, linen fabrics and silk fabrics.According to the sales situation of all kinds of textiles in the picture,a comprehensive analysis based on literature review shows that cotton and silk fabrics circulate in large quantities in the market, while the number of linen fabrics is relatively small. The number of dyeing workshops in the picture is small, but from the perspective of the internal structure of the dyeing workshop, the tools in the dyeing workshop are complete, including dyeing stoves, shelves for squeezing water, stones for stepping on cloth, wooden racks for drying cloth, etc. These dyeing and finishing tools are important materials for studying the dyeing technology of dyeing workshops in the Ming Dynasty. The location and surrounding environment of the dyeing workshop can be clearly seen from the picture. The dyeing workshop is close to the water source and away from the urban area, which not only facilitates production but also reduces the impact on the people, indicating that people had a certain awareness of environmental protection at that time.As shown in the figure,it can be inferred that the popular colors in the textile market are mainly yellow, green, cyan and blue.According to the identities of different figures in the paintings, they can be divided into aristocrats, ordinary people and soldiers.By observing the clothes of these figures,it is found that they have different dressing styles and characteristics. The clothing style and color in the picture are important image historical materials for studying the clothing culture of the Ming Dynasty.By analyzing the shops related to textile and apparel in "Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival" by Qiu Ying, the operating characteristics of Suzhou’ Textile Clothing Industry are summarized as follows: first,large-scale consumer market;Second, specialized production form.As a textile distribution center,Suzhou mainly benefits from the geographical advantage of local water transportation and land transportation. In addition, the Textile Clothing Industry developed compared with the previous dynasties, which was closely related to the progress of weaving technology.Compared with "Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival" by Zhang Zeduan,"Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival" by Qiu Ying depicts more abundant contents of textile and clothing. Moreover, this painting reflect the social style of Suzhou in Ming Dynasty, which is an important reference for studying the social life and folk culture of Ming Dynasty. In a word, the study of Qiu Ying’s "Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival" is not only helpful to understand the production process and development of the Textile Clothing Industry in the Ming Dynasty, but also to observe and understand the social living conditions of Suzhou in the Ming Dynasty. |
