As the basic industry of national economy, forest products industry is the secondary industry of forestry, including wood processing industry, furniture manufacturing industry and paper industry.Since the reform and Opening-up,Chinese forest products industry has achieved rapid development, forming a mature forest products industry system with wide range and various kinds. However, there are still some outstanding problems in the forest products industry, such as extensive production mode, low output efficiency, low resource utilization rate, serious environmental pollution and so on in the production process.Under the new development pattern of "dual circulation",how to promote the long-range objective of carbon emission peak and carbon neutrality in forestry and forest production industry is being laid out by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration. In the report of the 19 th National Congress of the CPC,the paper puts forward the high-quality development path of "establishing and perfecting green and low carbon cycle development",and points out that improving the total factor productivity is an urgent requirement to promote the high-quality development of the country.Improving total factor productivity has become an inevitable choice for the high quality development of China’s forest products industryBased on the theory of total factor productivity, and considering the energy consumption and pollution emissions in the production process, this thesis uses Malmquist-Luenberger productivity index to calculate the green total factor productivity and its change trend of Chinese forest products industry from 2012 to 2018.Based on the perspective of manufacturing, the paper evaluates the level of green total factor productivity of forest products industry in Chinese industries, and analyzes the internal power of green total factor productivity growth in forest products industry through index decomposition, then compares the differences between green total factor productivity and traditional total factor productivity and its index decomposition of forest products industry. Finally, the paper establishes the model of "labour-technology-system",further searches the influence factors which promote the development of green total factor productivity of forest products industry,so as to provide suggestions for the high-quality development of forest products industry.Based on the above research, the results show that:(1)the green total factor productivity index of forest products industry in China is at the middle level in the manufacturing industry, and the overall trend was decreased and then increased;(2)the main reasons of growth about green total factor productivity in forest products industry is the pure technology change;(3)The traditional total factor productivity index is higher than green total factor productivity to estimate the current operation and development situation of the manufacturing industry, which is contrary to the idea of advocating green economy;(4)the improvement of labor force quality and new technology invention and creation are conducive to the growth of green total factor productivity of forest products industry in China;(5)the improvement of marketization are the key factors to promote the green total factor productivity growth of forest products industry. Therefore, policy suggestions are put forward:(1)encourage enterprises increase R&D investment to promote technological progress;(2)guide internal reform of enterprises to improve management efficiency;(3)strengthen personnel training to improve the quality of the industry;(4)improve financial support policies to expand market opening;(5)strengthen publicity on energy conservation and emission reduction to promote green development.
