Research On Modern Marine Education In Qingdao (1922-1937

The ocean is a blue territory.In the 21 st century,it has become a practical education issue that citizens need to pay attention to to enhance the awareness of sea power,increase Marine knowledge and consciously safeguard national interests.However,China has been based on the mainland for a long time,ignoring the training of Marine education talents.After the Opium War opened China’s closed door,the government really began to attach importance to the construction of Marine education.Qingdao is an appropriate example of how Marine education came into being and how it developed into practice.No matter in the past or in the present,Marine education has left a deep imprint on the historical development of its city.At the end of the 19 th century and the beginning of the 20 th century,Qingdao,as a colonial city,rose from a coastal fishing village to a port city with far-reaching influence on northern China under the influence of external forces.The development of foreign trade has accumulated a certain economic foundation for Qingdao.After the Chinese government recovered the sovereignty of Qingdao from Japan,it began to reform the education of Qingdao.However,before that,the development of education in Qingdao in modern times was limited to civil unrest,disasters and colonial cultural and economic control.In 1922,the school system of Renxu paid more attention to vocational education and civilian education,and abolished preparatory courses and increased subject selection,which played a certain role in promoting the planning of Marine education in Qingdao.In 1932,National Qingdao University was renamed National Shandong University.Since then,the abundant Marine animal and plant resources endowed by the coastal location have made it a blessed place for Marine education,teaching and research.The school set up a biology department,its advanced teaching equipment,curriculum,enrollment and graduation Settings,all of which have laid a deep foundation for the formation of Marine science education system in Qingdao.In addition to the practice and exploration of Marine education in colleges and universities,some social Marine education institutions and organizations,such as fishing clubs,public education halls,aquariums,oceanographic departments of observation platforms and coastal biology institutes,gradually established and produced a large number of Marine academic achievements in the mid-1930 s.At this time,Marine education in colleges and universities had initially taken shape.Modern Qingdao Marine education system with multiple forms of social Marine education as the main body.With the help of historical materials collected in the archives,modern newspapers and periodicals,this paper makes a specific summary of the development process of Marine education in Qingdao from 1922 to 1937 by using relevant theories such as the research method,metrological history and interdisciplinary research method,which is helpful to understand the operational experience of the establishment of Marine education in Qingdao.However,problems such as lack of education funds and lack of establishment of primary schools and vocational Marine education schools were highlighted in the development course of modern Marine education in Qingdao.As a result,National University,which was "politically marginalized" after the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression,became the only national university in China that suspended its education due to the war,which triggered reflections on the development of modern Marine education.
