On The Practical Value Of Moral Materialization In The Development Of Contemporary Technology

The development of the philosophy of technology has experienced two major turns,the empirical turn and the ethical turn.On the basis of integrating the two turns,Verbeck has synthesized Foucault,Ide,Latour,Bergman,Wenner and other technologies.Philosophers’ thinking develops a new way of thinking-"moral materialization",which holds that technical artifacts have embedded morality and play an important role in regulating people’s thoughts and behaviors.The "materialization" in "moral materialization" refers to the realization of abstract moral concepts in concrete artificial structures,thereby positively guiding human behavior and having positive significance.Verbeck’s research on the theoretical system of "moral materialization" is mainly concentrated in his two books.The two books respectively discuss in detail two parts of Verbeck’s "moral materialization" theoretical system: the intermediary of technology as the theoretical basis and the ethical consequence of intermediation—the moralization of technology.The theory of "moral materialization" has a wide range of applications in reality,the more representative ones include "persuasion technology" design and "value-sensitive design"."Persuasion technology" uses computers as an intermediary technology to realize the moralization of technology,which is an important link in the theoretical evolution and practical exploration of technology moralization.Among them,environmental intelligence and persuasive technology integrate the insights of behavioral science and advanced information technology field.possibility.The "value-sensitive design" method plays an important role in solving the problems of privacy,security and confidentiality that may exist in artificial intelligence applications.It integrates human values into the design of artificial intelligence applications,prevents various ethical issues in advance.The emergence of it is more in line with human ethical values.Moral materialization can be practiced through a "predict-evaluate-design" methodological model.The practice of this idea makes it possible for the "law of matter" to regulate human behavior,expands the responsibility of the designer,expands the design concept in the dimension of value,and at the same time,expands the ethics of technology in practice.However,the practice process is complex and variable,and we need to dialectically consider a variety of factors.The lack of any one factor will directly affect the final use effect,and improper application may even lead to serious negative consequences.The difficulties faced by "moral materialization" in the practice process are difficult to identify responsibilities,technical objects,and the quality of designers is uneven.In response to the above problems,this paper proposes corresponding solutions,and looks forward to the democratization of technology and the development of "moral materialization" in the ideological practice.Vision for the Ethics of the Good Life.
