Moral Reflection Of Geoengineering

Today, mankind has been faced a serious challenge of global climate change. Whether willing or not, global climate change has been objectively forced all countries make response to the issue. But currently, relationships between countries become intense and global climate talks stalled on reason of political gambling, while climate geoengineering as an effectively way of climate change mitigation drew more and more attention. As an alternative of carbon dioxide reduction, geoengineering can be unilaterally implemented by a single country or organization. But just like climate change, geoengineering is globally. Meanwhile, the research and implementation of geoengineering also can lead to political, economic, social and ethical issues of some columns.This paper is divided into five parts. The preface introduces background of the research, including geoengineering research status of home and outside, this paper’s research methods, ideas and innovation. In the second part, we described moral roots of the supporting of geoengineering, then based on the dimensions of justice, we arguing the "moral hazard" which exists in geoengineering. In the third part, connotation, potential impacts and the risks of geoengineering in today’s risk society have been introduced. We also analyzed response options which are proposed to coping with the potential risks of geoengineering. Then in the forth part, we draw conclusions that people should make some value shift other than hoping geoengineering retard the rate of climate change. Finally, we explore principles of geoengineering research moral and application., call on further cooperation between countries to make joint efforts to tackle climate change.As a preventive measure, we support the development of climate geoengineering technologies. But climate geoengineering technologies need to follow the principle of holism to coordinate the relationship between man and nature, to achieve ecological steering. Climate geoengineering requires steering from quantitative, reductionist science to scientific understanding and holistic science. Climate geoengineering technologies need steering from the conquest, expansion of technical to adaptive technologies.
