Moral issues have gradually gained attention in anthropological research in recent years, but compared to the scientific and professional study of morality in other social science fields such as sociology and psychology, the study of morality in anthropology,a branch of social science, presents a generalized or popularized character. The advances in science and technology and the continuous development of rapidly and widely disseminated morals and values and cultures of plurality have led to dramatic changes in the standards and roles of morality in our daily social life.In these new contexts, anthropological research on morality has begun to expand from understanding the nature of morality to how anthropological methods can be applied to address moral and value issues in human societies.According to anthropologist Monica Heintz, the theory and practice of moral anthropology should aim to coordinate moral behavior in interpersonal interactions by reaching consensus through the social support of normative ethics and the education of ethical virtues,to realize moral norms with a communal sense,to guide the maximization of human own values with dominant values, and to shape and construct acceptable standards for people’s value judgments. As a result, the issue of the theoretical basis of moral community has become increasingly prominent in contemporary moral anthropology. In this regard, from the perspective of integrating empirical research in anthropology and philosophical methodology in social sciences, and based on anthropologist Didier Fassin’s idea of constructing moral communities by applying humanitarian methods, this paper first analyzes the historical form of moral communities and how moral communities have become the object and focus of research in moral anthropology;then elaborates on the specific construction of moral communities from the anthropological humanitarian position. Finally,we discuss the impact of moral communities on human values, analyze the value of the moral self and the role of moral communities in regulating the values of individuals, society and nature, and meet the needs of people in social life for establishing personal autonomy. Finally,we will discuss the impact of moral community on human values, analyze the value of moral self and the role of moral community in regulating the values of individuals, society and nature, and meet the urgent need of people in social life to establish the harmony of individual autonomy and social responsibility and the vision of the future moral life.
