Changes in the ecological environment and basic conditions of natural resources are the prerequisites for urban development and construction,and excessive urban development and construction will restrict the healthy development of the ecological environment.At present,China is still in a period of rapid development of urbanization and industrialization.The development and construction of cities has enabled the smooth development of the national economy and the continuous improvement of the quality of life of the people.However,excessive regional development has also led to extensive land use and disorderly expansion of the city scale.In the long run,it has caused a serious burden on the development of the ecological environment,such as excessive resource consumption and environmental pollution.It can be seen that the development intensity of a city is closely related to the development of resource and environmental carrying capacity,and there is a relationship of mutual influence,interaction,and mutual restriction between the two.This paper takes the mid-Yangtze River urban agglomeration as the research area.It not only studies and analyzes the spatial and temporal differentiation characteristics of urban development intensity and resource and environmental carrying capacity within the urban agglomeration,but also explores the middle-Yangtze River city by constructing a coupling coordination model and a panel vector autoregressive model.Coupling coordination relationship and dynamic interaction relationship between cluster development intensity and resource environment carrying capacity in different stages.The main conclusions drawn in this article are as follows:(1)The overall level of urban development intensity in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River is relatively high,and it has shown a downward trend from 2001 to2016.The level of resource and environmental carrying capacity is the opposite.Although the overall level is low,it is slowly increasing.From the perspective of the spatial distribution pattern,the urban development intensity and resource and environmental carrying capacity of the urban agglomerations in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River mainly exhibit block-shaped distribution characteristics.The internal cities have large differences and obvious spatial disequilibrium characteristics.The areas with high urban development intensity and resource and environmental carrying capacity are concentrated in the regional central cities of Wuhan,Changsha and Nanchang,which reflects the location advantages of the central cities.(2)Due to the obvious differences in the economic base,urban construction and development and natural resource conditions among the cities in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River,the coupling and coordination between the urban development intensity and the resource and environmental carrying capacity of the urban agglomeration also have obvious Spatial differentiation characteristics.The overall coupling degree of urban agglomerations shows an upward trend,and the types of cities are mainly moderate and higher coupling cities.The coordination between urban development intensity and resource and environmental carrying capacity in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River is dominated by mild imbalances,and most cities are in a state of mild imbalance and moderate imbalance for a long time.The coordination between the urban development intensity of urban agglomerations and the carrying capacity of resources and environment is relatively weak.To improve the development and construction of urban agglomerations,we must strengthen the protection of resources and the environment,so that the two systems can achieve a benign resonance,thereby promoting the inter-regional Coordinated development.(3)The dynamic interaction effect of mutual inhibition between the urban development intensity and the resource and environmental carrying capacity of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.The problems of excessive resource consumption and environmental pollution brought about by the increase in the intensity of urban development will lead to a decline in the level of resource and environmental carrying capacity.When the protection of the resource environment is strengthened,the level of resource and environmental carrying capacity will also increase.It has the effect of reverse inhibition.The level of economic development has a positive effect on the improvement of urban development intensity and the carrying capacity of resources and environment.Therefore,improving the economic development level of the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River can promote the two systems to develop in a coordinated and orderly direction.
