In recent years,the Short Video has shown superb market dynamics and has been instrumental in driving national economic and cultural development,and economic research in the field of domestic media has also shifted its focus from Traditional Media to New Media.The study of externalities has always been a hot topic in economics,As the most important product platform and value realization medium of the media industry,the economic externalities brought by the development of short videos are significant.Through conducting systematic Empirical Research,revealing the causal relationship between the development of Short Video and China's social and economic development,and promoting the benign development of the Short Video industry is an important manifestation of the theoretical significance and practical value of the research on the economic externalities of Short Video.This paper analyzes the economic research results in the domestic media field,constructs the Supply and Demand Model of Short Video economy,derives the supply and demand relationship in its market equilibrium state,and makes the externality assumption.On this basis,the data from social research are combined to quantitatively analyze the impact of Short Video on China's social and economic development,and verify the media economic externality of Short Video.Based on the above research,this paper draws the following main conclusions:(1)The Economic Externality of Short Videos mainly lies in its public goods attribute,and the social function of the medium determines its market operation mode of sharing resources and results.While promoting the growth of national economy,Short Videos also bring resistance to the supervision of public opinion and the construction of national ideology,causing a series of externalities.(2)The results of the empirical research show that the Economic Externalities of Short Video is mainly reflected in the economic environment,media technology environment and network ecology,which drive the development of related industries while also causing great impact on the production of Traditional Media.Commercial Short Video platforms suffer from a lack of supervision and regulation in content production,and government departments need to introduce relevant policies to regulate them.(3)Short Video is gradually becoming the main platform for gathering public opinion,and the development of mainstream media in the field of Short Video is relatively slow due to the limitations of capital and technology.For the emerging Short Video mainstream media,building and using the medium of Short Video well requires the overall layout from brand building,institutional adjustment to production process optimization.
