Research On Frames And Strategies Of Reports Of Migrant Workers In Farmers' Daily

Even today when new media has become the "main field" for social ideological battle,traditional newspaper still plays an important role as the "grand back stage" that presents mainstream ideology.In newspapers,the reports of migrant workers,the reporting frames and discourse strategies are unavoidably carriers for mainstream ideology.Analyzing the frames and strategies applied in the reports is of great significance for examining the shortcomings of communication with marginalized groups and their sense of identity with mainstream ideology.Based on the the principles of authority and pertinence,this study takes 378 report samples from the Farmers' Daily from January 1,2011 to December 31,2020 as the research object.According to the Frame Theory,combined methods of content analysis and discourse analysis are adopted to find that the the number of reports is closely related to the amount of migrant workers and the urban-rural relationship.The reports are information-based and propaganda-oriented.The order of the edition is related to the priority of issues for migrant workers.Migrant workers are scarcely the news sources.According to the themes,the news make detailed reports of how migrant workers survive,in a rather restraint and objective tone.This thesis summarizes the composition and characteristics of four frames in reports of migrant workers,including the interpretation frame,the reason retrospection frames,the improvement and resolution frame and the dispute-conflict frame.And from four discourse strategies,including euphemism,naming,implications and metaphors to summarize the ideological functions of news report,including social integration,interpretive propaganda and associative criticism.It discusses the inter-generational and gender characteristics of migrant workers' images as well as mixed identity characterization frequently appearing in news reports.Based on the analysis of those reporting elements,frames,character images and relevant literature,it compares the real situation of migrant workers with news reports.It reflects from the aspects of news material collection,adoption of frames and image building,and believes that mainstream paper media should enhanced the appeal and guiding power of mainstream ideology among marginalized groups by establishing new media material library,activating the reporting frames,building dialogue channels,and getting attached to their real life.
