Due to the rapid changes in times and circumstances, media technology is constantly developing and updating, but the proportion of an ageing population is increasing, giving rise to conflicting trends in our mediated society. The growing digital generation gap has triggered friction and conflicts in family intergenerational relationships.Helping elders to cross the digital generation gap requires digital feedback from the deep-rooted psychological needs of the parent and grandparent groups. To bridge the digital generation gap, intergenerational family support is needed. We explore the characteristics and effects of digital feedbacks from children to their parents and grandparents in rural families, and make suggestions to enhance the effect of digital feedback,so that parents and grandparents can better integrate into the new media society and enjoy the fruits of information technology development. The family is the core field of digital feedback, and the delay in the development of new media in rural areas makes the digital generation gap within rural families more serious, and digital feedbacks are also more operational and feasible.Based on the digital backfeeding behaviour within rural families, this article summarises the current situation of digital backfeeding in rural families by conducting in-depth interviews with 20 families and 1979 questionnaires in the suburbs and townships of J township,C district,Guangzhou city,Guangdong province, and G district,Mianyang city,Sichuan province,to sort out the reasons for the emergence of digital feedback between children, relatives and grandparents. The analysis found that the differences in digital access between the elders and the youngest generation were small, but the differences were more in digital use and digital literacy;the characteristics of digital feedbacks in rural families were the lagging nature of digital feedbacks, the reversal of the path and the repetitiveness. In summary, the impact of digital feedback on rural families is found to be that the rural offspring have evolved from a marginal role to a dominant role in the family field, while the traditional 'authority' role of the parental and grandparental generations has gradually diminished, resulting in a more balanced intergenerational relationship in the family, with the family voice of the offspring increasing and the family shifting from a one-way authority of the elders to a two-way authority model of the offspring-parental generation. The change in transmission status within the family has led to a change in family intergenerational relationships.Overall, family relationships are positive and the digital access gap has narrowed, but the deeper digital literacy generation gap is difficult to bridge in a short period of time. The study concludes with suggestions for enhancing the effectiveness of digital feedbacks, focusing on the need for the offspring in the family to take the initiative to provide feedbacks and improve their ability and patience in digital feedbacks, while the parental and grandparental generations should embrace new things with a more positive mindset, integrate faster into the new media era and enjoy the convenience brought by digital technology.
