Archival information resources are important for recording the history and memory of a country,a nation and even every ordinary citizen. They play an indispensable role in memory formation and preservation of countries, societies, nations and the public's personal past. The participation of social forces in the development of archival information resources can maximize the archival value and promote the use and reuse of archive resources. At present,China is still in the initial stage in terms of social forces' participation in archival work, and most of the existing research centers on theoretical analysis. There is a lack of research on how and in what way social forces get engaged in archival affairs. To bridge this research gap, this paper explores the specific model of social forces' participation in archival affairs.Firstly, this study reviews the relevant literature, providing enlightenment for the follow-up research and discussion.Secondly, through case analysis and online research,a basic understanding of the theories of participation in archival practice at home and abroad is grasped. Then, with the help of the stakeholder theory and governance theory, the model basis of social forces' participation in archival work is summarized.According to the different status between archives institutions and participants, the development model of archival information resources is divided into the crowdsourcing model, the collaborative model and the community-based participation model. The overview of each module is presented.Furthermore, projects, including the Citizen Archivist Project of the National Archives of Singapore, the Indigenous Archives Collective of Australia, and the Community Archives and Heritage Group of the UK,are also used as cases to analyze the operation, characteristics, participants, development methods and achievements of theses project respectively,so as to verify the application of the crowdsourcing model, the collaborative model and the community-based model. Finally,by drawing lessons from foreign experience and combining with China's national conditions, this paper provides certain insights into the participation of social forces in the development of archival information resources in China.
