Research On People's Livelihood Column Report Of Caixin Weekly

In China,after many years of development,people's livelihood news has formed a certain scale of social influence,which is a hot topic of common concern and discussion in academia and industry.However,with the rapid development of new media and the gradual decline of traditional media,people's livelihood news reports are flooding,and the seriousness of people's livelihood issues has been greatly weakened.At present,people's livelihood news reports tend to be shallow,trivial,sensational,entertaining and homogeneous.In this context,People's Livelihood column of Caixin Weekly is unique.Since its publication,it has persisted in making serious in-depth reports on people's livelihood for more than ten years,constantly exposing social and livelihood issues,intervening in the process of people's livelihood reform,and has a strong social influence.Therefore,this paper is based on Caixin Weekly,which is a professional comprehensive financial magazine,and takes its People's Livelihood column reports as the research object,using data statistics,case studies and other methods to explore the characteristics of the column reports from various aspects,trying to provide some reference for the transformation and development of contemporary livelihood news reports.First of all,the study selected 548 original in-depth reports in the People's Livelihood column of Caixin Weekly from January 4,2010 to December 28,2020.This paper makes statistics and analysis of People's Livelihood column of Caixin Weekly from the aspects of report quantity,report length,report genre,report topic,report source and so on.Among them,it not only pays attention to the content of the report itself,but also digs deeply into the information of relevant journalists and editors,and pays attention to exploring the reporting team of the column.So as to deepen the understanding of the column's in-depth reports on People's Livelihood.Based on the analysis of the sample reports,this paper summarizes the features of Caixin Weekly People's Livelihood column: multiple conflicts and contradictions are displayed in coverage to highlight the principle of fairness and justice;reports tracking livelihood policies are normalized as well;a large number of data in the report come from the investigation and interview of journalists,digging deeply the news information points different from other media;the rationality of coverage is enhanced with numerous charts to reflect the newspaper's characteristics;documentary photo reports abound,with a focus on ordinary people to convey positive energy.In the end,this paper summarizes what can be learned from People's Livelihood reports by Caixin Weekly on five levels.For livelihood coverage,it should grasp its core competitive advantages through precise self-positioning,increasing the number of in-depth reports on People's Livelihood and improve the quality of information.In a bid to further improve the current situation of livelihood coverage,what's more important is to develop a batch of professional journalists and editors with public awareness and to heighten the role of livelihood coverage in supervising public power from the perspective of public opinion.
