Research On Lasswell’s Communication Theory

Harold Lasswell is one of the founders of communication.Harold Lasswell put forward the theory of 5W mode and three functions of communication.He also did some research on wartime propaganda.Harold Lasswell’s communication theory,the most outstanding contribution is 5W model,the social function of mass communication,wartime communication research these three contents,but at present scholars only carried out a fragmentary analysis of these three,through the collation of literature,it is not difficult to find that many mathematicians are its various theories as an independent individual for analysis and discussion,this paper will combine with the theory The historical background of the proposed fusion analysis of a variety of theories.This paper first expounds the research object,research significance,research status at home and abroad;then analyzes the origin of Harold Lasswell’s communication theory,and analyzes the formation background of his communication theory;then analyzes the communication process model theory,expounds the formation background of the communication process model,puts forward the main contribution of the communication process model,and advances the limitations of the communication process model Secondly,it studies the wartime communication theory,introduces the emergence and achievements of the wartime communication theory,analyzes its contributions and shortcomings;finally,it analyzes the social function theory of mass communication,introduces the content and application of the theory,and analyzes the influence of the social function theory of mass communicationThrough the analysis,this paper finds that although the communication process model has certain contributions and points out the main direction of communication research strategy,it also has some limitations,including persuasion is greater than communication,ignoring the feedback in the process of communication,ignoring the external environment of communication and so on.The contribution of wartime communication theory is reflected in democratic propaganda and wartime control,while the deficiency is reflected in simplifying the war goal as one of the contents of centralized propaganda.The social function of mass communication refers to the three major functions of mass communication,namely social coordination function,environmental monitoring function and social inheritance function,which enables people to observe the progress of mass media from a more comprehensive perspective.Harold Lasswell’s communication theory has certain theoretical and practical significance,which can provide some reference for people to further study communication theory.
