With the improvement of China comprehensive national strength,topics about China have increasingly attracted the attention of the international society,no matter in the official public opinion field or the folk public opinion field.“China Threat” has been making a clamor which destroys China’s image seriously in the international official public opinion field.We can’t help thinking about whether we can do a good job about presenting China-related content in the folk public opinion field.At the present,the process of globalization and informatization is accelerating and foreign YouTubers as a special group of people quietly appear in social life.They are sharing their experience in China in the international social media,showing the world the latest development of China.The emergence of this new group provides a new way of presenting China-related content in the cross-cultural communication.The research consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction which introduces the research background and significance.Besides it makes the literature view from three aspects and explains the theories and methods involved in the research.The second chapter makes a summary about foreign YouTubers living in China.The third chapter makes a content analysis to obtain an overview of the presentation of China-related content and the feedback received from foreign YouTubers living in China.The fourth chapter analyzes the presentation methods and motivations of foreign YouTubers living in China through text analysis and in-depth interviews,under the guidance of narrative theory and grounded theory.The fifth chapter proposes strategies for optimizing the cross-cultural communication environment of foreign YouTubers living in China.The research found,firstly,foreign YouTubers living in China come from a variety of countries and use different languages,meanwhile,they mostly use vlogs and webcasts to focus on issues which are close to civil life,and their attitude tends to be neutral and positive.Secondly,the head authors have the potential to be key opinion leaders,and the video content can trigger users to discuss China,revealing positive emotions in the discussion.However,it’s worth noting that the influences of YouTubers from this group vary widely.Thirdly,as foreign YouTubers,they often use internal focus perspectives in their works to tell stories and select narrative symbols which are intertwined with characteristics including “historicality” and “presentity”.Moreover,their narrative is more “fragmented”,and tends to express daily narratives.Finally,the specific China-related content presented by foreign Youtubers living in China is motivated by cultural environment,personal needs and technological platform.In terms of the research findings,this study passes on the idea that the presentation of China-related content by foreign YouTubers living in China should be viewed dialectically.From communicators,content and channel three aspects,this thesis gives suggestions for optimizing the cross-cultural communication environment of foreign YouTubers living in China.
