| For a long time,the controversy about the safety of GM technology has been in a binary opposition.How should the media report this uncertainty in science news(emerging and controversial science news)?Based on content analysis,this case study selected four mainstream newspapers in Shanghai--Jiefang Daily and Wenhui Daily,the serious newspapers,and Xinmin Evening Post and Shanghai Morning Post,the popular paper,from which 595 relevant reports were sampled for analysis.The research found that: different traditional media communication framework is different,serious newspapers pay more attention to scientific and technological achievements,popular newspapers pay more attention to food safety and other livelihood topics;The most frequently appeared pages of gm news are advertorials and advertisements,with more articles than specific news pages.In advertorials and advertisements,the image of gm food is 100% negative.In the face of gm theme,most news reports in traditional media adopt a neutral attitude,followed by a negative attitude and a few hold a positive attitude.Some reports of serious newspapers and popular newspapers show a neutral tendency,while some reports of popular newspapers show a negative tendency.Compared with non-science journalists,science journalists tend to have a neutral attitude towards gm.Compared with serious newspapers,mass newspapers' judgment on the value of genetically modified food is a little confused...These circumstances have affected the continuation of the relevant dispute.Based on this reality,this study sorted out and analyzed the framework of articles and pages on related transgenic technology topics,hoping to provide an effective path for media to set up issues and government to make decisions. |
