Narratology Analysis Of Reality Show "The Brain"

When the audience rating of the real person show is crazy in foreign countries,the reality show in China also maintains a good momentum of development.In the era of variety shows blossoming everywhere,research on TV media has gradually been put on the agenda.Most experts and scholars have analyzed reality shows from the perspectives of communication,culture,audience and so on.But at the same time,there are also some scholars from the perspective of narratology to study it,to find the relationship between the two.The original German Super Brain is widely admired around the world by its unique narrative mode,and it is rumored to be a competitive reality show that is very difficult to produce.After Jiangsu Satellite TV obtained the copyright,it began to broadcast the Chinese version of Super Brain.This paper mainly uses literature analysis method and case analysis method to analyze the narrative characteristics of Jiangsu TV's The Brain from the first season to the seventh season,with a total of88 program samples as the research object.First of all,this paper will analyze the program content and sort out the basic narrative rules of The Brain,including narrative subject,narrative perspective and narrative time,etc.The narrative subject is analyzed from the perspective of the narrator in front of the stage,the narrator behind the stage and the narrative receiver.The narrative perspective is analyzed from the perspectives of zero focus,outer focus and inner focus.The narrative time is studied from the perspectives of narrative time interval,narrative time sequence and narrative time frequency.The narrative context is interpreted from the perspective of entertainment context and socialization context.Secondly,the archetype of "hero" and the narrative motif are applied to the narrative analysis of the image of "civilian hero" in The Brain.Thirdly,the narrative structure of The Brain program is interpreted by using Greimas' s theory of "action meta-mode" and "symbol square matrix".Finally,the narrative rhetoric of the program is discussed from the perspective of audio-visual language and post-classical narratology.According to the narrative characteristics of the reality show "The Brain",this paper only selects some representative examples for explanation and exploration.As a successful science reality show,the study of this paper can not only enrich the research category of narratology,but also provide a new perspective and train of thought for the development of other science reality shows,that is,to reveal the profound scientific connotation with a successful narrative way.At the same time,attention should be paid to the localization reform suitable for the national conditions when introducing foreign models,especially the reality shows should be regarded as the window for the export of national culture.Through the narrative analysis of The Brain,this paper explores the relationship between the narrative theory and the program,and summarizes the experience and inspiration of reality shows in the narrative process.
