A Narrative Study Of The Cultural Variety Show "Long Reader"

In recent years,Chinese cultural television synthesis programs have developed greatly,such as the "The Chinese Character Dictation Program","the Chinses Excellent Poetry" and "the Idiom Competition",all of which get good repercussions.With the rapid growth of the so-called "clear stream" program,"The Reader" was firstly broadcast in February 2017 and made a great success in both TV and Internet broadcast.In addition,it received favorable comment on social networks and both academic and professional circles.Narration is an important part of that program and it is meaningful to analyze the narration,such as the narrative elements,their relationship,characteristics,advantages and disadvantages.In this paper,the relationship between the theory of narratology and the program is discussed through the analysis of the narratology of "The Reader",The purpose of this paper is to obtain the experience and enlightenment of the cultural television synthesis programs in the process of narration.This research is conducted mainly by two method:the literature review and text analysis.The research object of this paper is the 13th "The Reader" and its narrative features and laws are discussed.Firstly,this paper teases the narrative subject and narrative discourse through the text analysis.The narrative subject is analyzed from the aspect of pre-screen narrators,post-screen narrators and narrators,while the narrative discourse is discussed from the perspective of narrative view,narrative context and narrative time.Secondly,this paper summarizes the choice of narrative matrix,which centers on love.Besides,the selection and distribution characteristics of the matrix are also discussed.Moreover,this paper probes into the narrative rhetoric of this program from the audiovisual skills and the rhetorical narrative theory of James Phelan.Last but not least,some problems and further reflection based on the narrative analysis of "The Reader" are carried out,including the innovative narrative strategies and optimization of narrative processes.According to the narrative features embodied in "The Reader",this paper selected some representative examples from many programs for discussion,aiming to provide new perspectives and ideas for domestic cultural television synthesis programs.Moreover,it shows reference significance to the research on the narration-related program.
