Today, short social videos such as "Tiktok","Kwai" and "Wesee" have become the new "stage" for individual self-presentation.The "stage" of social video platforms On the "stage" of social video platforms, the subject of presentation is shifting from passive visual reception to active visual creation.Empowered by the new media technology, the presenting subject realises a virtual "physical presence".While the presenting subject creates an 'idealised self-image' in the live broadcast, the private sphere of the individual is gradually 'foregrounded' and the boundary between the'foreground' and 'background' of self-presentation is increasingly blurred. The boundaries between the "front stage" and the "back stage" of self-presentation are increasingly blurred. The content presented by social video anchors includes: personal information, where anchors constantly refine and add information about themselves through introductions and interactive Q&A sessions with viewers;characterization, using props, music, language, scenes and other labels and some anchors create their own unique persona through strong contrast in their persona in order to leave a unique memory point in viewers' minds;and physical display, where the body is seen as a unique symbol of consumption and is used as a symbol of the audience. The body show, which sees the body as a unique symbol of consumption and uses the body as a bait to complete the "sing-song" interaction mechanism with the audience, and the talent, expertise and other showcases, all describe several popular forms of live broadcast from the classification of social short video anchors' live content. In order for the 'drama' to be realised, social video anchors often need to lend a hand, using strategies that allow the show to continue and beyond.Based on Culter's generalisation and incorporating The odini's social psychology strategy of "meet and greet",this paper summarises four strategies for presenting oneself as an anchor, namely being likeable, being "trying to be close",being an underdog and being good at what one does. The first three of these strategies can be categorised as the strategy of flattery, while the last one is categorised as the strategy of persuasion, which is a strategy of persuading viewers to trust by presenting facts.Based on in-depth interviews,I found that the motivations for self-presentation in social video include external conditions such as the new economic form of "body consumption",the media technology of "virtual presence",and internal psychological needs such as self-presentation,multiple social networks and considerable income. The content and forms of self-representation in social video are constantly changing and chaotic. The over-landscaping of the "chaotic flowers",the "warm water boiling frog",and the excessive homogenisation of the "ordinary" are some of the major problems. The reason for this is that it is mainly the result of the psychology of the subject's curiosity and flow,as well as the lack of supervision by the "hands-off" platform and the prevalence of the "ugly" culture. In the face of the endless live-streaming chaos, users, platforms and the government need to work together to create a healthy social short video self-presentation environment.
