The Presence And Change Of Journalists' Professional Views

On August 1,2000,the State Council officially approved the All-China Journalists' Association's request for the specific date of "Journalists' Day" and agreed to set November 8,its founding date,as the Journalists' Day.In such a hot moment full of ritual sense,the formal and public expression of media can,to a certain extent,promote journalists to construct a reasonable career view and build a professional community.Taking People's Daily as the object of study,this study explores the presentation and changes of journalists' professional views in their reporting texts during the Journalists' Day.It can be said that through the text of the Journalists' Day of People's Daily,we can see the discussion and expectation of journalists who have grown up under the official discourse system about their own professional issues.At the same time,the annual reporting text of the Journalists' Day also reflects the cognition and expectation of the Party,the country and the journalists themselves to the profession of journalists.In this study,the three days before and after the Journalists' Day from 2000 to 2020 were selected for content analysis and text analysis.It attempts to answer the following questions: What kind of view of journalism is presented in the texts of the Journalists' Day coverage from 2000 to 2020? In what way is it presented? Has anything changed?After repeated screening,this paper carried out word segmentation statistics on 112 valid samples collected year by year and as a whole.Combined with the text content,this paper presented the basic characteristics of the Journalists' Day reports in the past21 years,and sorted out the expressions about journalists' professional views from them.Finally,it is found that the professional view of journalists is mainly presented by the way of professional metaphor and professional model,and can be reflected in four dimensions,namely,the orientation of journalism profession,the spirit of journalism profession,the pursuit of journalism profession and the dilemma of journalism profession.At the same time,through the comparison of reports and texts over the years,we can also find that journalists have changed their emphasis from political to professional.This study hopes to present the characteristics and changes of journalists' professional outlook through diachronic investigation,so as to play a certain reference role in further understanding the professional outlook of journalists in China.
