The Chinese word "cartoon" first appeared in the 1904 "alarm bell daily" as a kind of painting.Later,in 1925,it became popular in China because of “Zi kai cartoon" created by Feng Zi kai,and was well known by the public.Similarly, the word "comics" in Japan first appeared in 1798,in the picture book "four seasons intersection" written by Shandong Jing chuan,a woodblock print painter.Used to express the meaning of random painting.Later,it spread in Japan in 1814 because of Hokusai Manga. But the object of this paper is not the early comics mentioned above, but the "new type" comics initiated by Tezuka Osamu after the war in Japan,in which a series of film techniques are added to the original story comics.Although it is very similar to the comics in China in the last century, there are great differences in language, image and overall structure.Japan's new comic books and periodicals were first born in the Red Book Comic events in the late 1940 s.However, the new type of domestic comics was influenced by the Japanese comics introduced by Hainan photography and Art Publishing House in the early 1990 s.The first original new comic magazine is "king of painting and book" published in 1993.There is only one version of the new Japanese comic magazine. However, there are various versions of books, such as single line edition,Library Edition, full edition, luxury edition and general collection. The other editions of the book are reprints or sub publications. These reprints will only appear in those with high popularity, high sales, excellent or classic works. There are differences among different versions of Japanese new comic books and periodicals, which are mainly reflected in the size of the books and periodicals, the physical properties of the paper, the pricing, and some design details inside the books and periodicals.China's new comic books and periodicals have developed for nearly 30 years since the 1990 s,but they are generally published only in magazines and individual books.By comparing the editions of comic books and periodicals of the two countries,we can see not only the systematicness and diversity of Japanese publications, but also the maturity and perfection of Japanese comic industry. At the same time,we also see the shortcomings of the development of new comics in China.Through the reflection on the current situation of domestic comic industry, the author thinks that the two most critical factors are cultural context and piracy. The influence of cultural context is reflected from the speech at Yan an Forum on literature and art before the founding of the People's Republic of China. It has experienced the period of reflection in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the period of Cultural.Revolution and the end of the cultural revolution. In these periods, there has not been a new form of expression of comics in China, only the comics with the characteristics of grand narrative.Until the late 1980s and the early 1990s,with the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy, the cultural context changed, and the small narrative began to prevail. The Japanese new comics were introduced into the country, and replaced the original comic market. The comic almost disappeared, and the new comics as a kind of mass culture began to develop. However, after that, the small narrative did not completely replace the grand narrative.Especially in recent years, the domestic cultural context is still dominated by grand narrative,so the content of the works created by cartoonists will be affected. The works play an important role in the development of Chinese cartoon industry. In the 1990s,the earliest Japanese comics introduced and published by Hainan photography and Art Publishing House were all unauthorized pirated books, and the Japanese Manga works in the new comic magazine king of painting and book, which was the first to be published in China, were also pirated. The early days of piracy brought not only the closure of magazines and related publishing houses, but also the long-term aesthetic impact on young people.Until now,the problem of piracy still exists, and with the popularity of the Internet,it has been transferred from physical books and periodicals to the Internet. It is more difficult to control the piracy of online comics than that of physical books and periodicals.Piracy directly infringes the copyright of cartoonists and their companies. The rampant piracy will make the authors and companies unable to earn money,so that the industry cannot continue to run without funds. Therefore,it is an important task to enhance the awareness of copyright and solve the problem of piracy.
