A Study On The Repair And Countermeasure Of Old Books Of Paper

Books made by human are the precious inheritance with dual qualities of material and spiritual civilization; which are a kind of non-renewable cultural resources. These ancient books owned significant historic, scientific and artistic value. Throughout the history, ancient books were suffered all sorts of disasters and disappeared from change of history to biological hazards. Books were liable to be broken because of their soft and brittle material. As time goes on, numerous ancient books which were urgent to be repaired left over by history. Unfortunately, so far, we have no a kind of technique that performs batch reparation but relies on manual work. Our study used traditional and modern techniques to repair an old book which was broken, dirty, decayed and mildewed; discuss the problem in duration of reparation; put forward the settlement method of myself. In combination with the practice in management of repairing books, beneficial experiment is summarized which can be used to repair important ancient books.
