The Broad Society Publishes Research On Women's Books

After the Opium War,China was forced to open the country that had been closed for a century.Western thoughts had an all-round impact on the consciousness and concepts of Chinese society.In order to expand the influence of the church,foreign missionaries paid great attention to the issue of Chinese women.They were committed to the cause of written preaching and spared no effort to promote the idea of feminism and gender equality.As a publishing organization established by Protestant Christians,the Christian Literature Society for China(CLS)established the purpose of publishing women's books and newspapers since its inception.During its existence,it had published nearly a hundred books related to women.The contents of these books are easy to understand.These books,on the one hand,enriched the reading choices of Chinese female readers,and on the other hand played a leading role in enlightening women's thinking in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.Compared with women's newspapers and periodicals,few study paid attention to women's books published by CLS.This article takes the women's books published by CLS as the research object.The thesis counts all the women's books and sorts out relevant bibliographic information comprehensively.On this basis,combined with all kinds of historical materials of CLS,this paper investigates the development of women's books,deeply excavates the main contents of all kinds of women's books,and comprehensively analyzes the influence of women's books publishing work of CLS on modern women's Liberation movement.The main content of the full text is divided into four parts.The first part is the background of the publishing of women's books by CLS,briefly introduces the founding process of CLS and the reasons for publishing women's books.The second part is the general situation of the CLS's publication of women's books.It examines the main body and functions of women's book publishing management.Combined with the changes in the number of women's books published,it details the publishing activities and development of women's books of CLS,trying to make readers have a more comprehensive and overall understanding of the main body and activities of the publishing of women's books.The third part is centered on the content of women's books.According to the content,the research objects are divided into three types of books: ideological enlightenment and knowledge popularization missionary sermons,focusing on analyzing the ideology conveyed by each category of books.The fourth part summarizes the understanding of the publication work of women's books of the CLS,and analyzes the origin and purpose of the publication activities,as well as the characteristics and influences presented.
