The Characteristics And Enlightenment Of Data Journalism In Caixin Media

The concept of data journalism can be traced back to the 19 th century and is an extension of precise journalism.With the advent of the era of big data,data resources have exploded.In the "post-truth" era,audiences have more requirements for the accuracy and constructiveness of news,and data journalism based on big data has the best opportunity for development.However,the first domestic portals to try to produce data journalism have stopped reporting on data journalism in recent years.On the other hand,the Caixin Media Data Journalism Center,which also started data journalism production in 2012,won the "2018 Global Best Data Journalism Team Award" in 2018.This is the first time that a Chinese media has won this heavyweight Awards.In this era and industry background,the characteristics and successful experience of Caixin Media's data journalism have a certain reference significance.This article takes Caixin Media Data Journalism as the research object,and uses case study,content analysis,and in-depth interview methods to study the characteristics of Caixin Media's data journalism and the reasons for its formation.Using the case study method can provide a more comprehensive understanding of the situation of the research object and help to discover more reasons why Caixin Media's data journalism is doing well.This article also selects 216 data journalism products from the official website of Caixin Media as a sample.By analyzing a large number of data journalism,it is helpful to discover more laws.This article mainly analyzes the samples from the three levels of data,content and design of Caixin Media's data journalism products,and concludes that it has many characteristics in data acquisition and processing,content planning and reporting,and product design and presentation.The second is to analyze the reasons for the formation of Caixin Media's data journalism characteristics from the perspectives of strategic positioning,production team,production mechanism,communication channels,and market cultivation.And it is concluded that Caixin Media's data journalism still has problems such as difficulty in following up hot topics,insufficient data processing,lack of data verification links,and imbalance between news value and visualization.Finally,this article puts forward corresponding improvement suggestions from improving the hierarchical response mechanism,increasing talent incentives,and insisting on journalism professionalism.The enlightenment drawn from this article is as follows: we need to firmly establish data awareness and keep up with the international frontier;we need to pay attention to the training and incentives of data compound talents;high-quality data journalism should highlight constructiveness and humanistic care;we need to focus on market cultivation and enhance the application of data journalism.
