The Narrative Analysis Of Caxin "Digital Report"

The booming of data journalism has brought about changes in the news production mechanism,opening up new directions for the journalism industry,and the industry has increasingly enriched the practice of data journalism.Data journalism has changed the narrative techniques?narrative structure ?narrative time and space of traditional news,which provides new possibilities for the presentation of news.From the perspective of narratology research,this paper analyzes the data news of Caixin “digital report” and analyzes the sample in terms of narrator,narrative perspective,narrative time and space,and narrative structure.The study found that data journalism has several characteristics in narrative: First,the existence of multiple narrators of Caixin “digital report” ultimately affects the presentation of texts,Absent and hidden narrators bring more justice and objective news text,the intention behind the narrative,is more able to convey the narrative's intention to achieve the expected narrative effect.Second,from the perspective of narrative,the zero-focus narrative is used,which according to the reported events,the omnidirectional and panoramic narrative has breadth and depth and gives people a sense of authority.However,the choice of narrative perspective is not fixed.The narrative perspective of Caixin “digital report” data news will change according to the needs of narrative.The multi-narrative perspective strategy makes the text more readable.Third,in terms of narrative time and space,summary and omission are two ways that “digitally speaking” data journals are commonly used.The macro narrative space brought by maps also makes data journalism more reveal the laws governing of the development of things in different time and space.In addition,the data journalism narrative is a multi-text combination narrative,and the non-linear narrative method makes the data news more novel in its performance.Caixin “digital report” still has more static charts in the news narrative,and does not fully utilize the visual image narrative function;the multimedia elements are used less,lacking storytelling narrative;the data is not deeply explored,and the narrative mode is relatively simple and insufficient;this paper proposes that Caixin “digital report” should continuously improve team professionalism,enhance reporting dimensions and levels;integrate resources and seek data crowdsourcing;improve its own database,deepen the meaning behind data,make reasonable predictions,etc.I hope that I can provide some useful thoughts for advancing the "digital report" and the continuous development of data journalism.
