A Study On The Explanatory Text Use In Narrative Exhibition Of Museum

With increasing attention paid to educational functions of exhibition in contemporary museums,the advantages of "narrative" in information dissemination has been salient,which has fueled active application of "story telling" strategy in the exhibition conceptualization and display.The narrative-based exhibition,which takes narrative as the construction mode of exhibition,emerges with pace kept with time.As an essential element of exhibition,explanatory text is one of the important means of communication in exhibition.This new application mode and requirements of explanatory texts require further concern to adapt to the transition regarding narratives.This paper focus on the explanatory text use in narrative exhibitions as narrative techniques are getting increasingly important in museum exhibitions.First of all,this paper clarifies the basic narrative characteristics and main content themes of the narrative exhibition,which function as a media with unique characteristics in spatial form,compulsion,logical connection and authenticity.Building on the theory of narratology,we point out how the text functions in explanation,highlight and connection in consistence of authenticity,and further reveal the important role explanatory text should play in presentation and communication with narratives in the development of the exhibition.Secondly,this paper evaluates the compilation of the explanatory text in narrative exhibitions in use of cases in practice,and points out existing problems which affect the story telling and information dissemination of the exhibition in the explanatory text such as unclear theme structure,inappropriate content expression and poor text reading experience.Finally,referring to the theory of narrative reading,this paper discusses about the effective ways to improve the expression techniques in terms of ensuring the integrity of the exhibition content structure,improving the narrative expression of the exhibition,and giving full play to its own characteristics.Further,we put forward some compilation strategies for reference,such as content research enhancement,clear structure level establishment,appropriate narrative perspective adoption,reasonable weight in key words,scientific and rigorous focus,and literary technique application.
