Usability Research And Application Of Social Apps For The Elderly

Social apps are developing rapidly,but the majority of users are young and middle-aged,and there are few social apps for the elderly.A large number of social APP products with serious homogeneity are flooding the market.These products often have insufficient usability,which hinders the elderly's close contact with Internet products.Based on this background,this paper aims to study elderly social apps through usability theories,shorten the distance between the elderly and the Internet,and help them achieve effective and high-quality social purposes.The main research contents of this paper include:(1)Customer and product research and analysisCombined with qualitative and quantitative user research methods,the social needs of target users were determined through user interviews and questionnaires.Through the analysis of user roles and stories,the needs of target users were determined and refined,and the needs list of target users was established.Based on the comparative analysis of the usability characteristics of elderly social APP products in the product research stage,it is found that the current elderly social APP products have some usability problems,such as non-prioritized function Settings and unclear product positioning goals.These two factors together extract the influencing factors of user demand and product characteristics on the construction of usability evaluation system of elderly social APP products.(2)Build a usability evaluation systemCombining result of the domestic and foreign usability theory literature summary,user demand list,product characteristics,experts,user opinions,the elderly social APP product usability evaluation system construction method was proposed,which was based on the analytic hierarchy process in this paper.The expert data was collected and index weight was counted.It contained 5 first-level and 22 second-level indicators.And the consistency test was done in the indicator evaluation system(3)Evaluation of usability of social APPs for the elderlyBased on the theory of fuzzy analytic hierarchy process,a prototype of an elderly social APP was selected as the test sample,and 30 subjects were invited to test the usability of a prototype of an elderly social APP through the usability experiment.The experiment is divided into preparation stage,experiment stage and data analysis stage.In the data analysis stage,the membership function is determined by establishing the scoring criteria of qualitative and quantitative index factors.The experimental test data were converted into experimental usable data according to the scoring standard,and membership degree was calculated according to the experimental usable data.The fuzzy evaluation matrix was determined according to the membership degree,and the weight value of the index factors and the fuzzy evaluation matrix were used for the compound calculation,so that the usability level of the final social APP prototype for the elderly was medium.At the same time,based on the experimental video and user interviews,the usability problems of the old social APP prototype were found.(4)Product improvement design and usability verificationBased on the usability problems found in the experiment,design improvement measures are proposed.Combined with the needs of target users,the functional model of the improved social APP for the aged was established.And design its information architecture and user history.Based on the usability problems found in the evaluation,the design of social APP product for the aged was improved.The usability evaluation experiment was carried out based on the improved product.The experimental results show that the usability scores and grades of the improved social APP products for the elderly have been greatly improved,and and put forward the usability design strategy of social APP for the elderly.
