Nowadays, the traffic trends in the optical access networks are moved from simple web-based services to multimedia and video services. The multicast is one of the forwarding methods for one-to-many traffic. But there have been very few developments because it requires to store a lot of state in the routers.Depend on the technology development IP Multicast(IP MC)become one of the main sectors. In the traditional multicast,it requires to maintain one routing entry for each session(multicast address). So,it cannot aggregate the address through the prefix like unicast. Thus, one multicast session requires all the related routers to maintain one routing entry, which may bring about lots of overhead in the transmission process. In this thesis,we present the Bit Index Explicit Replication(BIER)in the role of the transmission underlay to reduce the routing tables in the multicast routers. Moreover,we design a unique segment in SRv6(Segment Routing over IPv6 data plane)networks.By creating the new SRv6 segments that can process the encapsulate packets in the IPv6 header. It can indicate the route in the start point of the path as an ordered list of instructions that kind of instruction will provide a flexible way of delivering the packets. So,the combination of the BIER and the SRv6 together,we can provide the cost-saving(BIER)and the flexible(SRv6)for the multicast transmission.A few experiments are performed to identify the better performances of BIER and SRv6.The workflow of the proposed scheme and design are illustrated. The result getting from the simulation illustrates that the proposed schemes of these two technologies are efficient to reduce the cost of maintaining a lot of states and provide an efficient way to keep the network scalability.
