Compared with wired networks, wireless sensor networks can collect sensor data in a large area by deploying a large number of low-cost nodes, and are widely used in military monitoring, industrial production, and environmental monitoring. At present, the research and development of WSN are relatively independent, and the function of WSN is relatively single. In applications where communication methods are scarce, even if sensor nodes have been deployed to build a wireless sensor network, other networks still need to repeatedly build network equipment in the monitoring area. The wireless sensor network is different from the traditional wireless network. The battery of the sensor node cannot be replaced and cannot be replenished stably,so the network life is the main performance index of the wireless sensor network.Focusing on the above issues, this paper aims to support network integration with wireless sensor networks as the backbone network, and to reduce communication energy consumption as the optimization direction.Combining the advantages of existing mature routing protocols, two routing protocols are proposed for small-scale and large-scale wireless sensor network applications. The research in this article provides a new technical solution for applications where communication methods are scarce, and explores the potential of wireless sensor networks as a backbone network. The specific research content is:(1)For small-scale wireless sensor networks, this paper is based on the AODV protocol,a plane routing protocol that requires less storage and computing resources,by analyzing the characteristics of the wireless sensor network and the principle of the AODV protocol,an optimization and improvement plan is determined, and AODV-based wireless sensor network routing protocol is proposed. The protocol removes periodic route maintenance, adopts a crosslayer design, uses an energy-first route discovery algorithm based on route quality, and redesigns message types and formats to reduce the cost of route discovery, maintenance, and data transmission.(2)For large-scale wireless sensor networks, based on AODV-based wireless sensor network routing protocol, through the analysis of the classic cluster routing, combined with the advantages of the cluster routing protocol, from the aspects of cluster head uniformity, energy consumption and balance, working mode, and processing of isolated nodes,a second-level Mesh wireless sensor network clustering routing protocol is proposed.Compared with other clustering protocols, the biggest feature of this protocol is that it retains the design of the planar network topology.Three routing methods are designed to cooperate with the corresponding functions of the wireless sensor network to achieve better network performance.(3)The routing protocol is implemented in OMNe T++ and the simulation test results show that the protocol designed in this paper has improved network life, energy consumption for establishing routing between sensor nodes, and routing selection.By building a hardware test platform,AODV-based wireless sensor network routing protocol was implemented, and the functions of establishing and maintaining routing, network fusion and sensor data collection were tested, and the feasibility of the protocol was verified.
