The book publishing industry in Nordic countries including Finland has developed into a high level.It is worthwhile to study how Finland build up the modern publishing system under the influence of other powers as a country with relatively short history-However,there is few academic studies that focus on the book publishing history and developing process of Finland in China for now.With a perspective of publishing history,this study takes publications as the main object of study.First of all,by researching and collecting related historical materials,the author found out the basic facts and clues in early stage of Finnish book publishing history.Christianity has made an important impact on the development of Finnish book publishing and even on the overall development of Finnish culture.Secondly,the author studied some printers,publishers,writers and scholars who have played an important role in the development of Finnish books.Some of them have influenced the development of the book production industry,and some of them have made important contributions to the content and its ideological influence.This part shows that under the influence of political and economic environment,critical thoughts have a direct and profound effect on the content of books.Finally,a variety of industry organizations appeared with the expanding scale of book publishing,and they played an increasingly important role in the development of the industry.These organizations not only provided service to participants in book publishing,but also maintained the correct direction of the industry.The second part of the study focuses on the characteristics of Finnish book publications during the first two decades of the 21st century.A special feature of Finnish book publishing is that non-fiction works occupy an important proportion in total publications.Meanwhile,translation works have taken an increasing proportion in Finnish market in recent years,and the number of Finnish books translated from abroad has also maintained at a high level,indicating that the Finnish book market has frequent exchanges with the international market.Industry groups takes an crucial role in this process.The study also shows a decline in the number of print publications in Finland and a rise in the number of digital books,including e-books and audio books,which can be expected under the impact of the Internet.The Finnish publishing houses paid more attention to the digital books and provided both paper and digital form of books to readers at the same time.On the whole,the history of Finnish book publishing is a microcosm of the development of European book publishing.At the same time,Finnish society attaches more importance to literature and books because of the important influence of literature in the form of national identity.
