A Framing Analysis Of Le Figaro Reports On Huawei

This study analyzed the report on Huawei from Le Figaro from three levels:high-level,middle-level,and low-level under the guidance of the theory of Zang Guoren’s "high,middle and low three-level frame’ The research sorted out the characteristics of the Le Figaro report on Huawei in the high,middle and low levels of the frame,what kind of image the Le Figaro has built,and why the Le Figaro will build such a Huawei’s image.In the high-level structure,this study found that Le Figaro has a high degree of attention to Huawei and can publish a report about Huawei almost every two days.when Huawei has more activities in a certain month,Le Figaro will also increase the number of reports on Huawei.Reports on Huawei are mainly centered on four themes:government policies,corporate capabilities(CA),corporate social responsibility(CSR)and Meng Wanzhou Incident.In terms of news sources,Le Figaro can try to be as objective and comprehensive as possible in reports and try to balance the number of sources of information from all participants in the Huawei incident.In the middle-level structure,this study found that Le Figaro’s reports on Huawei are mainly composed of main events,previous events,results,and attributions.The main event is composed of four major themes.The previous incidents mainly include the Sino-US trade war,relevant policies issued by various countries,and the reasons for Meng Wanzhou’s arrest.The results part mainly introduces the possible impact of the Huawei incident.The attribution part includes the reasons why countries ban the use of Huawei,who should pay for the possible results of banning Huawei,and the reasons why Huawei is popular.In the low-level structure,this study found that Le Figaro has a positive attitude towards Huawei.By analyzing the keywords,descriptive sentences and metaphors in Le Figaro’s report on Huawei,the result can again prove Le Figaro’s positive attitude towards Huawei.After analyzing the report on Huawei from Le Figaro,the research found that although the French media held a negative attitude towards China,they held a positive attitude towards the Chinese company Huawei.The reason is that Huawei’s products are of high quality and have a certain sense of social responsibility.In terms of corporate image,Le Figaro described Huawei as a company "accused as a spy by the United States",it also established a positive image for Huawei that’emphasizes technological innovation,excellent product quality,and assumes social responsibility."This inspires other Chinese companies to strengthen their innovation capabilities and improve product quality when entering overseas markets.Only by making their products irreplaceable in the market can they ensure that they can cope with various risks and challenge.While enhancing product quality,the enterprises must also assume certain social responsibilities and play a positive role in local development.
