The Current Situation And Ideological Construction Of Overseas China-related Reports During The Covid-19 Epidemic

Since the beginning of 2020,the Covid-19 virus became into an annual focus issue with its spread rate and high mortality rate.It also frequently occupied important pages of mainstream media from all over the world for that the global outbreak exerted an irreversible influence to political multi-polarity and economic globalization.China has been the first country to have a large-scale outbreak in the fight against the new coronavirus,and has automatically become the focus of public opinion in the major media.China reported the new coronavirus to the World Health Organization the first time.The government immediately took action to mobilize the whole society to fight the epidemic,and made the decision to seal the city of Wuhan,which made a major sacrifice for the epidemic prevention of the whole world.However,in the context of the outbreak of the world public health crisis,China not only has to fight the virus,but also has to deal with the complex international environment,including the obstruction of foreign economic and trade,the crisis of broken chain of economic globalization and the risk of major adjustment of the international order.In addition,China had to cope with sustained and planned provocations from the United States.In the economic field,with the rise of protectionist forces,the United States violated the international fair-trade agreement flagrantly,and launched a trade war against China.This is particularly reflected in the Trump administration sanctions against Huawei,a national company with 5G core technology,and the demand that Tiktok,the popular Chinese social software in the U.S.internet market,be shelved in the app market.On the field of political,the withdrawal of the United States from the World Health Organization has hindered the process of global governance of public health events and increased the burden of China's participation in global governance.The complex international public opinion in the context of the epidemic is the real test of China's international communication.Some western mainstream media,led by the United States,still adhere to the inertial Cold War mentality,not only do not endorse the Chinese government's anti-epidemic actions,but also make use of public opinion dominant position to set up China-related issues.They attached politicized labels to the epidemic prevention and control policies of China and cracked down China with "Chinese virus","Wuhan City is the annihilation of human rights","Dr.Li Wenliang incident" and other stigmatization.The complicated political and economic situation during the outbreak of pneumonia poses a challenge to the international spread of China.First,the article takes the international public guidance opinion theory as the starting point,sorts the literature of its theoretical origin,definition development,theoretical extension,and Chinese localization literature,so as to deepen the understanding of the theoretical level of China-related reporting research.Research on China-related reports in academia is an important way to understand the attitudes of foreign media and Western countries,and it is also an important link in promoting China's external communication,Therefore,in order to acquire an in-depth understanding of the research status of scholars in the special period,this article selects Chinese scholars' overseas China-related reports research literature during the epidemic period as the research object,and conducts literature search on CNKI and Google Scholar,and finally screens out relevant literature 29 articles.Through preliminary analysis,it is found that domestic scholars have intercepted the samples from the 1990s to the present to ensure the abundance of the sample quantities and explore the characteristics of changes in the samples in different historical periods.In the process of analyzing overseas China-related reports,scholars in this field have moved from focusing on mainstream media in the United States to focusing on comprehensive analysis of many other countries.In addition,they pointed out the limitations of existing research with reflective thinking,and tried to put forward reasonable suggestions,new topics and future research directions.Some scholars summarized the tendency,News framework,attitudes of foreign media from related studies.By means of econometric statistical research methods,this paper reviews and summarizes the China-related literatures reported by overseas media during the Covid-19 period,and explores the overall thinking,framework features and basic situations of Chinese scholars' research on overseas public opinions during serious public health events.Then,with the help of the linguistic deconstruction of critical discourse analysis,this paper makes an in-depth analysis of the ideological construction of literature from Chinese scholars during the Covid-19 epidemic,including the surface structure analysis and deep morphological understanding of the discourse expressed by scholars.In the course of the study,on account of the high frequency of American media and government in many literatures,the paper tries to explore the image of the United States in the eyes of Chinese scholars during this period.Then the discussion explores whether the choice of word frequency analysis research method is beneficial to the scientificity and objectivity of research results,and finally reflects and summarizes the progress and shortcomings of the researches compared with previous.The study found that Chinese scholars are enthusiastic about the topic,and the number of essays has gradually increased with the different stages of development of the epidemic before entering a stable normalization.With the exception of a few articles on Africa and the Middle East,more than two-thirds of the literature from Chinese scholars focuses on Western countries.On the aspects of the research subject,the New York Times,the Wall Street Journal,The World and other traditional Western mainstream media has become a research hot spot,and social media is relatively weak for the authoritative information dissemination of the voice.At the research method level,scholars are constantly exploring ways to integrate with other disciplines,drawing on the advantages of other disciplines to innovate and expand the research mode of China-related public opinion.Through critical discourse analysis,this paper also interprets the metaphors and ideological of this rhetorical phenomenon in the papers contributed by scholars.It is found that scholars always adhere to the strong national self-confidence,the belief of safeguarding national image of China and the concept of global governance advocated by the community with a shared future for mankind.They maintain rigorous,objective and neutral attitude,but it is inevitable that preconceived ideas will survive.At the same time,it is also accompanied with some problems of homogenization on research ideas.
