Infectious ward monitoring has always been one of the medical problems.Unlike ordinary wards,infectious wards have a higher demand for contactless remote monitoring.Staffs in infectious ward need to monitor patients' physiological data remotely and contactlessly,which can reduce their risk of infection.Therefore,this paper proposes a remote monitoring system for infectious wards based on power line communication technology.Patients' physiological data are transmitted through the power line.Thus,the remote monitoring system can be realized with little increase in communication overhead.Moreover,power supply to the hospital is usually stable.This is good for the power line communication to avoid some interference.The physiological data can be effectively and remotely transmitted through the power line.This design,power line communication based infectious ward monitoring system,can provide a safe and effective solution for the remote monitoring of infectious ward.In this paper,some methods of sensing physiological data are studied for patients in infectious ward,such as an algorithm for removing the baseline drift of ECG signals.In addition,the power line communication based infectious ward monitoring system is proposed and its software and hardware design are detailed.The hardware design mainly includes the main control unit,data monitoring unit and data transmission unit.The main control unit is an embedded system with S3C2440 A processor.The data monitoring unit includes the monitoring design of human body temperature,ECG,blood pressure and blood oxygen saturation.The data transmission unit works for the digital signal transmission based on a modem circuit.All the hardware designs provide a hardware platform for the physiological data collection,processing and transmission.Moreover,the software design mainly includes a driver program design of physiological data collection,a upper computer program design and a power line communication protocol design.The software designs provide some functions based on Linux embedded system such as sensor drive,human-computer interaction and data management.The test results show that all the designs work well and this system realizes a remote monitoring demo of a variety of physiological signals.This paper uses power line communication to realize the remote monitoring of some physiological signals for patients in the infectious ward,and the visualization and management of patient monitoring data are also be proposed.This is a feasible solution for physiological monitoring design in infectious wards,and it is conducive to the development of informatization and intelligentization for infectious wards monitoring system.
