The Effect Of Digital Technology Application On Enterprise Innovation Performance

With the continuous change of new technologies,the increasingly complex competitive environment brings new opportunities and challenges to enterprise innovation and sustainable development.Digital transformation has become the basic strategic choice for enterprises to obtain sustainable competitive advantages.As the source of transformation,whether the application of digital technology can improve the innovation performance of enterprises,or there is still a "Productivity Paradox" similar to technological progress is not only a practical issue that firms need to consider,but also the focus of academic circles.Existing studies have discussed the role of digital technology in promoting enterprise innovation performance from many aspects,and believe that as a universal technology,its utility needs to be adjusted and matched within the organization.However,there is still a lack of systematic empirical test on the specific intermediate mechanisms through which the application of digital technology can be transformed into the improvement of enterprise innovation performance.Based on this reason,this paper constructs a theoretical model from the application of digital technology to innovation performance,and identifies two intermediate mechanisms from the existing literature based on the IT process theory:business model innovation and organizational structure change.Therefore,the focuses attention from a single technology perspective shifted to the direct and indirect effects of technology and its organizational application,and uses large samples to test the impact mechanism to provide important empirical evidence for opening the "process black box" of Productivity paradox's in the context of digital transformation,which enriches the relevant research on the results and mechanisms of digital technology at the enterprise level.This paper first reviews and analyzes the related literature on digital technology application,enterprise innovation performance,business model innovation and organizational structure change.Based on IT process theory and existing literature,the theoretical model and research hypothesis are proposed.This paper uses intensive SME board listed company in 2015-2017 as research samples,combined with text analysis and expert evaluation methods,and then uses SPSS26.0 and R2.3.2 software to further test the hypothesis and model model.The research conclusions of the study mainly include the following points:First,the application of digital technology has a positive relationship with enterprise innovation performance.Digital technology provides a new way of resource allocation and enhances external search activities.At the same time,the combination of digital technology and pure physical entities can bring about the improvement of innovation performance.Second,business model innovation plays an intermediary role in the relationship between digital technology application and enterprise innovation performance.Digital technology brings new ideas for value discovery creation by introducing service-oriented competition logic and connecting external participants,which effectively affects the business model innovation of enterprises.To a certain extent,the logic and mechanism contained in digital technology need to be released in the form of new value propositions and value creation models,so as to better provide support for enterprise innovation.Third,Organizational structure changes play an intermediary role in the relationship between digital technology application and enterprise innovation performance.The new operating model and competitive situation that accompany digital technology have given birth to cross-functional changes in organizational structure to adapt to the characteristics of the external environment,and then promote the transformation of enterprise innovation results by influencing information flow and knowledge sharing.
