Most of meter reading systems adopt the wireless meter reading technologies based on GPRS,ZigBee,LoRa.They have problems such as high power,low cover ability etc.However,for the new popular wireless technology based on NB-IoT(Narrow Band Internet of Things),the network can be established on the present equipments,and it makes the application network topology structure simple,and it also achieves long working time for terminals by low power.Moreover,it has advantanges in power and cover ability etc.After requirements analysis and scheme comparation,this paper adopts STM8L052C6T6 as main controller chip and designs a remote wireless meter reading system based on NB-IoT.The main work of this paper is as following:1)At first we propose system general design scheme according to requirements analysis,the system can be divided into the following three parts:meters at bottom,data collection terminal at middle and upper management platform.2)The hardware system uses STM8L052C6T6 as main controller chip.The storage module,infrared module,RS485 module,NB-IoT module and Mbus communication module etc are designed,and corresponding hardware circruits are put forward.3)The software design based on IAR environment is coded by C,and it consists of main program,initialization,downlink acquisition command reading,serial port receiving processing,NB upload transmission,NB module login etc.4)The remote meter reading management platform based on Eclipse is coded by Java,it is composed of meter reading module,data processing module and data collection terminal management module.The database designed by Access can store data,for example,collection terminal address,present time,present amout of heat,accumulated flow and temperature etc.The remote meter reading system designed and achieved by NB-IoT has advantages in power,lifetime,cover ability,the ability to adjust etc.Current of the data collection terminal is less than 20uA,waterproof level reaches to IP68 and terminals can work from-25? to 60?.The theoretical terminal lifetime is 5.7 years if we use Mbus for downlink while the theoretical lifetime is 10.8 years if RS485 is used for downlink.This system proposes one achievable scheme for the design and update for meter reading systems nowadays.
