At present, the government vigorously advocates saving energy and reducing consumption. As one aspect of energy efficiency, household measurement has been carried out step by step to assess winter heating. Now, domestic heating measuring technology is in its infancy. With the development of measuring technology, household measurement has arisen in some big cities, so that central heating users can gain the independent regulate right to control the heater in their homes. This approach can not only improve the comfort level of people’s life but also the public’s awareness of energy-saving. The heat consumption drastically reduces and so does the heating costs.Heat linking to fee does not only accord with the commodity character of heat but also benefit energy efficiency. The implementation of the household metering can eliminate kinds of drawbacks of the past measurement method which charges by area. Nevertheless, the new method also brings problems such as huge amount of data, difficult to collect data. Thus, a set of remote automatic heating meter reading system is needed to address these problems. The system arises in this context. Remote automatic heating meter reading system does not only save manpower and resources for heating department, but also make the measurement data more transparent so as to avoid faults of anthropic factor and out-of-sync data.This topic designs a remote automatic heating meter reading system based on Internet of Things technology. The system is an application of Internet of Things in the field of heating system household metering. It can be extended in long-distance meter reading field of other existing meters. This system combining with technique such as wireless sensor network, embedded system development, network system development, database syetem development and so on leads the same application in domestic field. The structure of this system consist of data acquisition system, data transmission system, data storage system, data access system. Data acquisition system is the system acquisition terminal, responsible for data collection; data transmission system, including wireless sensor network data transmission and Internet network data transmission, realises the data transmission with integrity, reliablity and confidentiality; wireless sensor network using multichannel frequency hopping path redundant technology to realise the data concentration of LAN(Local Area Network) and Internet network using VPN(Virtual Private Network) to realise long-range data transmission; data storage system uses MySQL database to data storage; data access system adopts B/S structure and the users can inquire statistics through broswer. This paper introduces the design processes and implementation methods of system from three parts:the design plan, hardware design and software design. Among the three parts, the last two are introduced more particular. Hardware design includes circuit design of MBUS master station, wireless sensor network nodes, wireless sensor network root node, base station of data acquisition system. Design and implementation of MBUS master station circuit is especially focused on. Software design includes Wireless sensor network embedded software design, ARM-LINUX embedded software design, database access system software design, the user data access system design. The first two software design is especially focused on.The ultimate design of remote automatic heating meter reading system has advantages of low cost, high performance, and expandability. It is in the leading position in field of domestic application market.
