Content Analysis Of People's Daily Reports On Targeted Poverty Alleviation: From The Perspective Of Political Communication

Since China's reform and opening up in 1978,with the sustained rapid and healthy development of the economy,China's poverty alleviation and development has been steadily advancing.The poverty alleviation standards have been gradually improved,and the poverty population has gradually decreased.In 2014,China began to implement a targeted poverty alleviation strategy.At the end of 2019,China has implemented a targeted poverty alleviation strategy for five years.From the perspective of achievements,these five years are also the five years in which China 's poverty reduction and poverty alleviation efforts have achieved the most remarkable results since 1949.Targeted poverty alleviation has become one of the most important topics reported by mainstream media in China.Not only does the number of news reports show a blowout trend,but the content and methods of reporting have changed greatly in just few years.In 2020,China will achieve poverty alleviation for the rural poor under the current standards and build a well-off society in all aspects.At this critical moment,this article takes the targeted poverty alleviation reports of People's Daily from 2014 to 2019 as the research object,using content analysis methods,from the perspective of political communication,comprehensively examine the characteristics of reports,and try to discover the deficiencies.In this article,187 samples were obtained by constructed-week sampling.By quantitative analysis from several aspects: report type,report theme,information sources,headline keywords,poverty attribution,reporting area et al.the research found some characteristics of People's Daily targeted poverty alleviation reports.The article collected a lot of data which could help the other relevant researches.The article found that People's Daily made a comprehensive and long-term report on the topic of targeted poverty alleviation to promote the implementation of policies,adopted step-by-step and rational reporting,and focused on reporting role models and displaying excellent results.However,there are still some deficiencies in the reporting methods.The reporting mode is relatively simple;the voices of the poor are not adequately demonstrated;the reports lack scene effect;the causes and background of poverty are disappearing.People's Daily have poor performance in the political communication function of public opinion supervision and political participation.
