The Research On The Spatial Narrative Of American Campus Youth Films In The 21st Century

Looking back at the representative American campus youth films of the 21 st century,unlike those films of the last century that were rebellious and repressive,this type of film presents a sunny and positive style,and a mature model is formed in the narrative.Especially from the perspective of spatial narrative,we can find that American campus youth films are good at constructing typical spaces,and complete the narrative tasks through the processing and splicing of the space.What kind of space is chosen in this kind of movie,how is the space constructed,and how is the space narrative reflected? Based on these problems,this paper discusses the space narrative of American campus youth films in the 21 st century,seeks the skills and characteristics of this type of films in space narrative,and explores the space representation features,space narrative functions,and the meaning symbols in the space in the American campus youth films in the 21 st century.This paper focuses on the space in American campus youth films in the 21 st century,uses the methods of literature analysis and case study to take the narrative space as the object,and classifies it into "material space","spiritual space" and "social space" according to Henry Lefebvre's space concept theory.On the material level,the most common classroom,room,arena and other space characteristics of teenagers are distinct.As a structural element,space represents different characters,and some of the characteristics of space can also participate in the narrative.On the spiritual level,romantic fantasy,self crisis and chasing dreams are inseparable themes,which together constitute the complex spiritual space of teenagers.At the same time,they also use Audio visual means facilitate the audience's perception;on the social level,there is a solidified character relationship network in the campus ecology,and it appears in the real space and virtual space at the same time.The unique relationship in cyberspace and the common sense of power confrontation are the most prominent features of social space.Space consciousness is used in the creation of American campus youth films,which makes the space in this type of films more recognizable and more conducive to the shaping of characters and the development of plots.This paper also aims to provide reference for the development of Chinese films of the same type from the perspective of space construction: on the level of material space,attention should be paid to the selection and setting of scenes;on the level of spiritual space,the selection of themes must be typical;on the level of social space,it is necessary to create some typical characters and explore some deep-seated social problems.
