The rapid development of media in modern society has provided the public with rich media texts for consumption.While the audience consumes media texts,they are also outlines and displays their own media image.The Vlog video format received a lot of attention in 2019.More and more audiences like to watch Vlog and take up the camera to devote themselves to the production of Vlog video.With the continuous development and growth of Vlog video,the public has more and more questions and thinking about the development of Vlog video.Exploring the impact of Vlog video on the audience is the key to this research.The audience pursues the ideal self in the media text displayed in the Vlog video,reveals themselves in the reconstruction of the media text,and gradually completes the construction of self-identity in self-examination through media consumption.The spectacle / performance paradigm combines media consumption with the construction of self-identity to explore the impact of media consumption on the audience's self-identity construction.This article takes the audience watching Vlog videos as the research object,uses the spectacle / performance paradigm as the theoretical framework,uses text analysis and in-depth interview methods,combines productive audience theory and self-identity theory,to explore the characteristics of Vlog audience in media consumption under the spectacle / performance paradigm,and the process of self-identity construction through media consumption.This article finds that the content of Vlog video has the characteristics of shooting from a first-person perspective,advocating authenticity and beautifying daily life.Observing the audience of Vlog video from the perspective of spectacle / performance paradigm,we can find that Vlog video creates a daily media landscape for the audience.In this specific media environment,the audience watching and staring at Vlog video has become a channel for the audience to obtain information for self-construction.At the same time,through the public performance,the audience will use media tools to create their own ideal social image in the re-creation and deconstruction of Vlog video text.This article believes that Vlog audiences show the psychological characteristics of "narcissism" and "imagination" during the spectacle.The audience puts the "ideal self" in the video by "narcissistic projection" of the Vlog,and uses the "imagination" psychology to imitate and perform the content in the Vlog video,in order to create their own ideal image in the social media.In the process of performance,the Vlog audience shows three behavioral characteristics: the productivity of media text re-creation,the nomadism in the transformation of social roles,and the acquisition of pleasure for media production in the transformation of identity.The construction of Vlog audience's self-identity after media consumption can be divided into three stages,from the audience's pursuit of "ideal self" in Vlog video,to the audience's seeking others' identity in self-performance and social interaction,and finally to the audience's self-identity construction in self-reflection and self-examination.
