| Since the birth of news cartoon in China,it has been closely linked with the public life.News cartoon is not only a unique form of painting,but also a common way of reporting news,and an indispensable part of j ournalism in China.In view of this,this paper based on the previous research results,based on the theory of rhetoric and related communication theory as the theoretical basis,researched 160 news cartoon works from the 2nd to the 29th China News Awards,analyzed and summarized the characteristics of the award-winning works in the cartoons category of the China News Awards and the use of visual rhetoric techniques,and then explore how news cartoons use visual rhetoric techniques to construct meaning and express news attitudes.Through the research,it is found that in the selection of themes,it is more focused on social and political topics;in the type of cartoons,commentary news cartoons dominate;in the source of cartoons,they are mostly published by traditional media;in terms of attitudes,they are mostly criticism reveals;and in terms of creative style,it is mostly vulgar.In terms of the construction of the meaning of news cartoons,the existence of each visual symbol in the news cartoons assumes the function of different meaning construction in order to achieve the purpose of indicating the theme.The visual symbols as the main body of the cartoons are highlighted as the visual focus,and the other visual symbols are used as accompany the body and environment play a role in coordinating and highlighting the main body of the cartoon.The interaction of subject,accompaniment and environment makes news cartoons form an organic whole with distinct primary and secondary,harmonious elements,and effective delivery of news information.In addition,news cartoons use a variety of visual rhetorical techniques in expressing emotions and meaning,this article analyzes and studies the visual rhetoric techniques commonly used in the award-winning works of the China News Awards cartoons such as metaphor,exaggeration,symbolism,allusion,and irony.Each rhetoric technique in news cartoons has multiple uses.Skills,the use of different techniques will also make the meaning of news cartoons different,and then convey different news attitudes.Based on the interpretation of the winning works of China News Award news cartoon,this paper puts forward the following suggestions from the perspective of visual rhetoric,hoping to inspire the creation of news cartoon in China:? grasp the balance of images and texts,and form graphic and textual intertext;?make good use of Rhetorical techniques accelerate the transfer of meaning;?Find out empathy points and convey Chinese values. |
