On June 20,2019,Jackson Yi,a 19-year-old popular idol,appeared on the cover of Southern People Weekly,showing the world the image of young male of the millennial generation.Taking this as an opportunity,the author summarizes the existing research on the media image of Young Male and uses content analysis and behavioural discourse analysis as methodsIn the first part of the text,the problem of how to build the image of Young Male in Southern People Weekly was solved.As far as the overall picture is concerned,the young male has the characteristics of being younger,highly educated,diversified personal roles and professional images,and showing people with positive images.Based on the essence of Van Dijk's news discourse analysis theory,in the second part,The author analyzes the microstructure characteristics of Southern People Weekly from two components:sentence structure and vocabulary.Sentence patterns,such as metaphors,numbers,quotations,and other rhetoric to enhance their persuasion to the audience and highlight the characteristics of the image of Young Male.In the last part,the author puts the image of Young Male presented by the magazine in the post-modern context and summarizes the three characteristics of the Young Male in the Southern People Weekly that are consistent with post-modernismIn general,reporters from Southern People Weekly are concerned about young men of different classes.The image of Young Male portrayed by this magazine not only reflects the consciousness that the mass media must shoulder the historical mission in the collision of multiple cultures.
