AMOLED panel has many advantages like self-luminous, short response time, small thickness, etc. It will occupy a lot of market in the future, so AMOLED driver chip will be a great demand. This paper studies a good driver chip architecture in 480 RGB × 800 resolution and researches image processing algorithms such as the image scaling, image filtering, gamma correction with digital methods which used in the driver chip. This paper also designs digital logic circuits with Verilog and implements them with back-end process.This paper studies the OLED emitting principle and driven methods of AMOLED pixel. A small-size AMOLED driver chip on a 240 RGB × 320 resolution was analyzed, and this paper proposes a 480 RGB × 800 resolution AMOLED driver chip architecture with some improvements. For example, removes the GRAM, uses digital gamma correction methods, usees a time-sharing source driver structure and adds image processing algorithms.This issue done some researches on image scaling, image filtering, gamma correction algorithms and proposed some improved algorithms to improve the image processing effects, these new algorithms were simulated in matlab platform. The PSNR of Lena image using new scaling algorithms were 35.4483 dB and 35.4434 dB zoom in and out; the PSNR of Lena image with 10% noise is 29.8243dB; presents a digital gamma correction method based on the analog voltage reference points. This issue complets interface decoding circuit, digital gamma correction circuit and the data generated circuit of source driver circuit with Verilog. We also use matlab simulation platform to show the image data obtained from the Verilog simulation.The process is 0.18μm CMOS, the die size of the digital logic layout was 2700 × 1600μm 2. Extract RC parameters from layout, then passes the static timing analysis. Finally, the digital layout finishes DRC, LVS physical verification using Calibre. The result shows this design has done a good job.
