A Research On The Attributes Of The Most Innovative Nodes In A Patent Knowledge Network

Knowledge Innovation plays a significant role in improving the core competitiveness of enterprises and the economic productivity of society.Knowledge Network could be a tool connecting the attributes of knowledge nodes to study Knowledge Innovation,which directly reflecting the process of knowledge evolution.Issuing patent is one of the most important elements to reflect organization's ability of innovation for both profit or non-profit organizations.The tendency of a research institution can be seen from the analysis of its patent publication.Based on the cited and citing relationship among patents issued on the U.S.patent and Trademark Office for 43 years,this dissertation constructs a knowledge network and study the attributes of the most important 20000 nodes.This dissertation studies those attributes of innovation nodes:1.Disruptive Innovation and Incremental Advance of nodes.This dissertation propose an improved model to distinguish whether each node belongs to Disruptive Innovation or Incremental Advance.In addition,this dissertation calculate the degree of Disruptive Innovation or Incremental Advance for each node.2.The characteristics of the organizations of different innovation nature nodes.After identifying whether each innovation node belongs to a profit or non-profit organization,this dissertation summarizes the nature differences of innovation between profit and non-profit organizations,and also the factors that may influence the relationship between the profitability and the nature of innovation in organizations.To sum up,the conclusions are as follows:1.The improved model makes the differences of node innovation more clearly.This dissertation calculate the innovation nature of each node by referring a model.In the process of sorting out data,this dissertation find the limitations of the model-except for a few nodes with the most Disruptive Innovation and Incremental Advance,the model cannot show the degree of nodes' Disruptive Innovation and Incremental Advance.It can only distinguish whether each node belongs to Disruptive Innovation or Incremental Advance.This dissertation improves the model for this defect.The improved model cannot only effectively distinguish the innovation nature of each node,but also show the degree of Disruptive Innovation and Incremental Advance of nodes.2.Relatively speaking,the research of profit organization is more inclined to Incremental Advance,and the research of non-profit organization is more inclined to Disruptive Innovation.This dissertation manually identifying the profitability of each organization.Therefore,all nodes are divided into two data sets:the innovation research of the profit organization and the innovation research of the non-profit organization.After analyzing the differences between two data sets,this dissertation find that,on average,the research of the profit organization is more Incremental than the non-profit organization,and the research of the non-profit organization is more Disruptive than the profit organization.3.Based on both the original model and the improved model,the number of references plays an intermediary role in the impact of the nature of institutional profitability on the nature of innovation research.During data observation,this dissertation finds that the average number of references of non-profit organizations is far less than the profit organizations.Combined with the obvious difference of innovation nature between profit and non-profit organizations found previously,this dissertation wonder whether the number of references plays a certain intermediary role between the nature of institutional profitability and the nature of institutional innovation.This dissertation calculates the intermediary effect of the number of references on the innovation value from both the original model and the improved model.This dissertation finds that organizations with different profitability have different citing habits,which has a certain relationship with the different characteristics of innovation of those organizations.
