The thesis firstly introduces the market background,for the research on the application of company A's smart wearable technologies for transport payment in Singapore.The mobile internet is rapidly developing in many countries and regions,and mobile payment has become to be the major trend in payment industry.The payment modes are becoming more diversified,and the payment scenarios are becoming more and more abundant.But the transport payment in Singapore is still in traditional way and in card form,has been far behind the major trends.At the same time,the movement of people between Singapore and greater China is becoming more and more frequent.Although cross region transport roaming project has been set up and developed,the progress has come cross the bottleneck due to the constraints at the technical and operational aspects of the card product.The author then introduces the history and current status of the transport card industry and the smart wearable industry.Singapore's transport payment is facing a bottleneck for further growth,and the Smart Wearable industry is also cooling down,due to problem of product homogeneity,weak customer stickiness,and poor product functions.The author is looking into how Company A applies the smart wearable in Singapore transport card roaming project,as the effective solution,in order to break the bottleneck of growth.It is arguing how the solution will lead the transport payment further develop in two dimensions.Vertically,the wearable will become the product form integrated with more applications including transport payment,which is the main selling point,so as to enhance user experiences.Horizontally,through setting up the smart wearable based shared service platform,provide OTA application download and personalization,lead to transport card roaming among various countries and cities freely.The thesis also briefly introduces Company A's history,company structure,and business strategies,in the transport card market segment.Two existing projects are being referenced,such as Shuashua wristband with Lingnan Pass application,which proved it is practical to use wearable in transport payment.Another example is Lingnan Pass and Hong Kong Octopus roaming card,which was launched successfully,but the further development is limited by the technical and operational constraints,lead to the result that transport roaming card so far can only be used for two different cities,which are adopting different contactless protocol.Because the cards have to be personalized and activated locally,two ways of deliveries of cards are required between the two cities.Apparently,the operation is costly and prolonged.Based on the relevant theories of mobile Internet and project management,through case study,the author is to analyze and prove that,wearable becomes the product form for the transport payment application,which leads to the biggest difference with the traditional card form,can be the solution to overcome the current constraints for transport roaming card.As the wearable devices are connected to mobile phones via Bluetooth,through the customized phone APP,customers have gained the access to mobile Internet.The wearable can be connected to backend server or cloud through mobile internet,push information to user,top up through OTA,collect and analyse data,accurate marketing,store and analyse pedometer and sleep data,introduce some 3rd party services.Off line,as the wearable have the chip embedded with security element and antenna,can support NFC payment,including transport payment and micro-payments at retailing merchants,where are installed with respective terminals.Therefore,wearable becomes a trendy and secure payment device.There is no doubt that,in the vertical dimension,with the enhanced applications based on mobile Internet,wearable has become more attractive than card product,provide users with rich payment scenarios,enhanced interaction between the user and service provider,successfully upgrade transport payment to mobile internet age.In the horizontal dimension,through setting up Trusted Service Manager(TSM)platform,wearable users can freely download another city's transport application via secure internet channel when needed,and personalize the application over the air(OTA),after that,user can enjoy the convenience of local transport network.In this way,previously,individual service provider is basically working off line,have nothing to do with mobile internet.Now,service providers at different cities can work with each other on line at a shared service platform.The platform not only connects SPs,but also connects users and the 3rd party service providers.It widens market from Singapore to overseas,extends the service range from transport payment to other retailing payment,and health management,as well as OTA personalization,platform management and services,data milling,etc.In the end of the paper,it introduces the challenges encountered during the project implementation,and the respective solutions.
