Contactless RF card has solved a difficult problem of no power supply (no power supply in cards) and contactlessness successfully, so it becomes a breakthrough in the field of electronic apparatuses. With the globalization of information and service industry, better portability, higher security and easier usage of information carrier are required by our society. That's why contactless RF card is focused on by many relevant industries, with all of its superior qualities of no mechanical abrasion, easy-maintaining, and easy-using. It's" practically meaningful to develop and utilize RF card, as contactless RF card has been used in more and more fields in everyday life. The topics contained orderly in this paper are as follows: the application background of smart card, the explanation of contactless RF card used widely as a trend, and an example of two widely-used RF cards- AT88RF256 and E5550-to show their specific operation principles and the way in which they communicate with base stations. In addition, security issues occurring during data communication are explained simply in this paper. With 51MCU-series assembly language is the software developed, used in slave MCU in this paper. The main functions of the software include the implementation of how base stations read data from and write data to RF cards, and the implementation of how a MCU communicates with a master MCU.The RF card reader showed in this paper can operate alone, without a PC. It can also be used as a portable reader, with a small keyboard, a LCD, and others as peripherals.
