Comparative Study On The Creation Of Exercise Situation In Chinese And American Chemistry Textbooks ——Taking "Metal Elements And Their Compounds" As An Example

With the promulgation of the 2017 version 《 General High School Chemistry Curriculum Standards》 and the implementation of the new college entrance examination policy,the implementation and development of students’ core literacy has become an important criterion for chemistry teaching and evaluation.And through the prescriptive situational exercises,the students’ understanding and mastery of knowledge can be tested in the real situation,which is conducive to evaluating the development of students’ core literacy.Therefore,studying the situation of the exercises in the textbook is of great significance:for teachers,it can help teachers understand the ways of integrating theoretical knowledge with actual situations;for students,it can help students understand the practical application of chemistry and appreciate its value;as far as the compilation of exercises is concerned,it can provide a reference for the compilation of situational exercises in domestic high school chemistry textbooks.This research adopts literature analysis method,content analysis method,interview method,and uses "Metal Elements and Their Compounds" as the research theme,to comparative analysis of the exercises in the three sets of new domestic high school chemistry textbooks and the American textbook《Chemistry: Concepts and Applications》.Specifically,it includes: the distribution of exercises,the proportion of situational exercises,the type of situational creation,the content of examination of situational exercises,the degree of integration of "Situation-Problems" of exercises,the "Knowledge Carrying Capacity" of exercises,and the "Degree of Openness" of exercises.This research has the following conclusions:1.In terms of the proportion of situational exercises,American textbooks and People’s Education press textbooks are higher.2.In the creation of situation,American textbooks and Jiangsu’s Education press textbooks are preference to create situations connected with life,Luke Edition textbooks and People’s Education press textbooks are favor the creation of situations connected with experiments.3.In the content of the examination,the four editions of the textbooks emphasize the examination of the material transformation concept and related evidence reasoning literacy of the topic in the content of the examination.4.In terms of the degree of integration of "Situation-Problems" of exercises,the four editions of the textbooks have room for improvement.5.In terms of the "Knowledge Carrying Capacity" of the exercises,the proportion of exercises in the various types of "Knowledge Carrying Capacity" between the American textbooks and the Jiangsu’s Education press and Luke Edition textbooks are more balanced than that of the People’s Education press textbooks.6.In terms of the "Degree of Openness" of exercises,American textbook are more open than Chinese textbooks.This research also puts forward the following suggestions for the compilation of textbook exercises:1.Increase the proportion of situational exercises and enhance the balance of their distribution in the textbook exercises.2.Increase the proportion of exercises related to scientific research situations.3.Improve the degree of "Situation-Problems" integration of exercises.4.Strengthen the openness of textbook exercises and strengthen the training and training of exercises for students’ divergent thinking.
