Scientific method is the essential pieces of scientific literacy.Cultivating students’ scientific methods is helpful for students to solve chemical problems and understand chemistry better. Textbooks are the main source for student to obtain knowledge, which also the chief materials of teaching activities. Therefore, the types, the presentation in textbooks will have significant influences on cultivating students’ scientific methods. Chemical bond’s contents, which are abstract and hard to master, are representative in chemical concepts’ study throughout the whole senior high school. This study selected Chinese high school chemistry textbook of PEP,Jiangsu Education Publishing, Shandong Science and Technology Press, and American textbook < chemistry: concepts and Applications > in the respective chemical bond’s content, mainly comparing the scientific method in chemical bond’s content. Finally, designing the chemical bond’s content on the basis of the previous comparison in scientific methods. This study strive to provide some advice and help for textbook writing and scientific method education. This thesis is composed of four parts:The first part is the introduction, mainly including the researchbackground, the definition of core concepts, the purpose and significance of research, research methods. The second part is the comparison of scientific method in chemical bonds between Chinese and American high school chemistry textbooks.Comparing scientific method in instruct language, columns, chemical bond’s content. The third part is the design of chemical bond’s content, which is on the basis of the previous comparison in scientific methods. The fourth part is the conclusion of the paper. Through the study of chemical bond’s content scientific method, analysis and summary, it offers proposals for textbook writing and teaching activities.
